Happy to report that, as of this today, the software update is now available for 21-24MY. You can now proceed to work with your local Ford Dealer to schedule a time for them to perform the update on your vehicle.

At this time, I don’t have any news to share regarding the timing of this being released as an over-the-air update, but when I do I will share it here.
I got the notification in the FordPass app yesterday afternoon that the remedy was available through dealers. I called, gave them my VIN and they scheduled me in to clear the software recalls on my car (since I already installed them via FDRS all the dealer really needs to do is verify the software images and clear the recalls). 😁🐩

Thank you very much for the well needed update!

How long is it taking people to get this update done?
I have seen it is a 30 minute update... then I have heard horror stories.
I am sitting at my dealer right now and they told me it would be 6 hours. :|

Ours took 45min yesterday for our 2022 and it was done by a Ford dealer's mobile service.

I did it myself for our 2024 using FDRS. Updating all modules that had pending updates took about 3 hours - would have been 2 but I walked away and didn't respond to the prompt to toggle the ignition quickly enough ay the end of one of them and FDRS decided it had to be rerun. Also, simply trying to clear DTCs at the end of the process took forever but eventually I realized FDRS was stuck and quit/restarted it and then it went at a normal pace.

These are both the kind of things that can easily happen in a service environment where the tech does have other things to do than babysit the laptop that's updating your car, so, I actually don't think 6 hours as an estimate to give the customer is too bad.

Underpromise and over deliver. Better to quote you 6 hours and have it finished in 1 than the other way around.

The tech is also probably working on multiple vehicles at once because most of the time with updates is just waiting, so their time is better spent doing something more productive than just staring at a progress bar.

Also depends how behind on updates your car is…

The actual update only takes about 30 minutes, but it’s a scheduling issue when the tech is busy with other cars. Mobile service seems to be the best option, unfortunately only a limited number dealers offer it.

Well, it was about 75 minutes… not too bad.
Dealer is typically awesome… so I was confused at the original estimate.

My dealer called me 24 hours before my appointment to break it. They wanted to move it to Friday morning, which in my experience means they are keeping the car all weekend after telling me no loaners are available. No thanks pal.

These last two messages - multiple dealers claiming to have no appointments available for *over 3 months* for recall work and a dealer breaking an appointment for recall work at the last minute, very likely to hang onto a car for multiple days with no loaner offered for a simple software update - these are examples of how bad dealers really, really harm Ford's brand. And they hurt the good dealers too, and there really *are* good dealers, and they really shouldn't get nailed with "all Ford dealers are terrible", "stealership" etc. because of the bad apples it seems Ford can't or won't police.

It is very very obvious that some dealers do not want to work on EVs and do their level best to turn EV customers away, for warranty work in particular.

I hope someone at @Ford Motor Company is keeping track of these kinds of reports, which are all over this forum and the Lightning forum, and doing what they can to escalate, though I appreciate we will probably never hear much about it here.

Flagging this with the team. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.

I completed a survey so I think they should have some idea about what's going on if they read the surveys completed by owners that had their car serviced.

My dealer just left my house after they did a mobile update which took 30 minutes. Great service and so far all is well!
