What ever happened to the Mustang Mach e 1400? How does it’s performance compare to a 2024 Mustang Mach e GT with the performance upgrade?

I was just curious about what happened to it, especially with all of the fuss around the upcoming Mustang GTD. Doesn't the Mustang Mach E 1400 have better performance specs?

1400 horsepower vs. 480 horsepower, I'll let you decide how that compares, ha.

The 1400 was a performance demonstrator made just to give people rides at car show events. The battery only lasts for like 20 minutes before needing to be charged, it's designed to drain as fast as possible rather than to hold as much energy as possible like a production vehicle. Those types of battery cells don't last for more than a year or so before they're junk. So I think the Mach-E 1400 has served its purpose and has been retired.

Ford has moved on to having an extreme F-150 Lightning demonstrator now instead:

I feel like Ford’s true Gen 2 Mach-E has to take some lessons learned from the 1400 and the Super Cobra Jet 1800 if it wants to be at all competitive with the Ioniq 5 N, which seems to be the production EV to beat at the moment in the category.

Ford came first to the party as far as legacy automakers with a “performance-oriented” EV in the GTPE, and although it is fun, it’s already getting well surpassed. The Rally looks interesting, but is it too little to late? I have a feeling that when Mopar enters the game that might also be something Ford has to contend with.

Chevy is super late, the Blazer EV SS is already a year plus behind schedule.

Are you saying the ionic 5 N is a better performing car than the MY24 GT (with the performance upgrade)?

I was casually perusing an article that was rating “performance EVs”, and it was only comparing a bunch of stupid expensive European brands, the ionic 5N (seems weird to compare a Hyundai to a Porsche?) and, I believe, the Tesla model S plad. I can’t imagine that the performance of the GT (with the performance upgrade) is considered on par with a 2014 Prius or something?

Yes. Quarter mile for I5N: 11.1 sec (real world tested), vs 24 MME GT with performance upgrade 11.8 sec (targeted). Granted, it’s a Hyundai, and it’s more expensive. Also, the I5N can do two hot laps on the Nurburgring without thermal derate. Ford is getting left in the dust here, easily.

The 1400 is still alive and well! You can check it out for yourself and go for a ride at your nearest Electrify Expo event

But as noted above, it is strictly a show car for high-speed thrill rides.

Ah, but you’re forgetting the Hyundai’s most important deficiency: it lacks a proper frunk ?

I think it might actually be the dealers. They are worse than Ford Dealerships. I know, it might be hard to believe considering the horror stories on here.

You just have to find the right (competent) dealers. The I5N is in a different universe from the Mach E.

Joey Logano took his son Hudson for a joy ride in the Mach-E 1400 a few weeks ago. Film was on Fox Sports. ??

It's still trickle charging at an Electrify America station.
