So I finally took my 24 Mach E Premium in to have the paint looked at by my local Ford dealership. My service advisor agreed that it was probably crazing but they cant fix it their at the dealership so I had to take it to my local Acura dealership because their bodyshop is "Ford certified". The gentleman at the body shop told me that they get about 6 of the Mach E a year for paint work. I was told that my car would be in the shop for about 3 months. While I am not happy with a car that is only 2 years old and about 9K miles on it needs to be repainted already, I am looking forward to the terrible paint being fixed. When my lease it up I am defenitly not keeping the Mach E. Since Ford has killed the Lightning in its current form, chances are very high that I will get an EV from another company.

Is it so bad that you would have it fixed under lease? 3 months is a long time to spend and making payments to fix someone else’s car.

The body shop person told me that all the plastic has to come off and they have to redo the car as if it were being painted from the factory. The total cost that Ford is paying is around 16,200.

But are they giving you 3 free months on the lease?
I wish. I get a dealer car for the time that my car is in the shop. granted the cars that I acess to are limited to a mileage limit. Then I have to trade that loaner out for another loaner.

Not sure I'd fix what is really the Dealer's problem. They know about it and take responsibility and it's documented. I'd just finish the lease with the shitty paint job!!! Unless they are compensating you in some way with a free Mach E Loaner or extending your lease for 3 months with no additional charge (including mileage). #sand!!!

Sorry to hear about your paint. As a fellow black Mach E owner, your experience and some prior posts has me wondering if this might be in my future. We took delivery on Oct 20, 2025 so tomorrow we hit 37 weeks since delivery with a little over 17K miles. Manufacturing date was June, 2025. At this rate we will be done with the full warranty mid-April 2027. I keep my car garaged and wash it by hand but haven’t been overly fussy.. I am planning to give the car a good coat of wax and hope to repeat that at least annually. Except for some very minor scratches and chips that I’ve touched up, I’m not seeing anything concerning with the paint besides black being hard to keep looking clean. Question I have is if this crazing on your car is something that slowly appears on certain panels and worsened over time. Would you be able to post a picture?

this is good to know and a good point. My dealer took note of the roof, side and quarter panels, and I am to receive a call from the body shop "soon". Three or 4 months of paying the lease is just not right, even with the loaner.

I think that I will keep the car, and so that's why I may take it in to get the paint redone. But otherwise, yeah, hang on to the bad paint for the length of the lease.

This sucks.
