My daughter did some very minor damage on both pass side doors, front and back. The scratch continued to the piano black part of the wheel well. Thought some may be interested in my first collision repair with an EV.
- Went to my normal place. Turned out they are scared to death of EVs. They said the following things.
- Doors are aluminum and they can't weld that (wrong)
- They would have to take car to dealer, completely drain the battery, then have it towed back to work on it.
- They would have to move it outside every night.
I asked my insurance company for another place. Took it there...Teslas everywhere. They said they could not take it for two months.
Finally found another place. They treated it like any other car and fixed the deep scratches and dents with no issues. Replaced both door panels and the wheel well plastic. Only glitch was they had to send it to a dealer to clear codes. Apparently these cars pop codes with whatever you do. That cost an extra day. Very happy with the repair but I had to go to multiple places before I found one that could do the work. My dealer does not do collision work.
