My trunk opens just bit, only sometimes?

So I’ve monitored my trunk for several weeks now and here is what happens.

My trunk only opens a little bit only when:

• I use the trunk physical button after the car has been parked for awhile.

It opens fully when:

• I use the app
• I use the touchscreen in the car
• I’ve just parked and use the button
• The car is on and I use the button

Is this normal behavior? Because it’s annoying. There is no scenario where hitting the button to open the trunk while I have my keys and/or phone that it should not just open all the way.

Is it a feature or a bug? ?

If it open fully when unlocked but not fully when locked…it’s a bug. There is a software update that fixes it. Have to get the dealer to apply it or wait for OTA.

There is an OTA software update for the liftgate to fix this. I just got it last week on my 2023.

Bug, the RGTM module needs an update. There was an OTA for it, or you can ask your dealer to apply it.

Oddly, no service bulletin was done for it.

There is an OTA software update for the liftgate to fix this. I just got it last week on my 2023.

Sucks because I just got an update but it didn’t fix it. I have a 2023 as well.

Are you sure it was the liftgate update? A bunch of other updates have been flowing to the 23s recently.

Sometimes mine does that too. Most of the time it doesn't. But it always seems to open partially only when my hands are full
