So, I'm reading a thread about a PaaK survey that Ford seems to be doing at the EA (Early Access) Cool Kids Table.
(Seriously, I applied to the waiting list 5 months ago, and not a word from them. I guess I'm not cool or popular enough...
)
Anyway, I start running off at the mouth about how it would be nice if Ford would enable Apple Car Key/Android Digital Car Key. As part of that diatribe, I started putting down some ideas of things that could be changed, updated, enhanced, etc. if they were to truly realize the potential of connected Profiles and Car Settings. The particular rabbit hole that seemed to get my attention this time was how half-baked MyKey is. We get 3 or 4 basic or trivial settings for MyKey, and that's it. If this feature was well thought out and executed, there is so much more that it could do. Will @Ford Motor Company or @Ford of Canada see this or will any of this get back to Ford? I prefer to be an optimist, but also a realist. So, let's say that I hope so.
MyKey settings should be expanded and made available online and in FordPass. MyKey is basically a way to manage a kid, or guests experience, so it may as well be Ford's version of Life360 (https://www.life360.com/intl/). That said, here are some ideas. I'd love to see yours too.

- All MyKey settings and information should be incorporated into FordPass
- Notify owner/parent of:
- Location (through a MyKey screen, not general location info)
- Exceeding speed limit
- Geofencing (notification, not disabling car)
- The car has enough cameras, AI should be able to tell when the car is pulled over by police and notify owner/parents
- If an accident is detected (in addition to current settings)
- Set Max Stereo Volume
- Restrict phone use (when CarPlay/Android Auto is used
- Restrict drive modes available.
- Whisper only
- Whisper and Engage only
- etc.
- Restrict performance. My kid, or anyone else, does not need to be able to do 0-60 in 3.5, 3.8, 4.8, 5.2 seconds. 7-8 seconds is PLENTY.
