I just got the 4.1.2 update, and I love most of it, except this issue I am facing with Android auto
. The maps now takes up half the screen when other apps are opened, so games for example now open only on half a screen (making some unplayable). Is there a setting for this? Most apps open only on this half screen except map apps such as maps, abrp etc.

Normally clicking the app icon again should toggle it from split screen to full screen, but trying now on my own vehicle and it seems to only allow maps to be maximized this way. Not sure if this is by design, or if apps require an update to allow them to be maximized in the new cool walk UI.

Yes that works only for maps and no other apps. It did work with ABRP which is also a map app

My android was updated to coolwalk about a month back and this issue did not exist, today when 4.1.2 update came, it changed the Android auto instance and made full screen not possible for gamesnacks or most apps except maps

Did anyone find a solution for this issue? The Android games are now no longer playable due to its size on the screen (despite the big screen on the car). Someone at Ford and sync should be able to fix this quickly... Ford ???

Got 2 more updates after 4.1.2 but gamesnacks still has same issue

You should be asking Google.

Android Auto and CarPlay are responsible for how the screen is rendered. All Ford does is tell them how many pixels are available.

In both cases, Apple and Google, are rendering poorly with the new bigger size.

I am asking Ford since it used to work until 4.1.2 sync update was released by Ford ( not google) .

You can ask Ford all you want, but Google is the one who decides how to lay out the elements on the screen in Android Auto.

If you want your concerns to be addressed, they should be raised with Google.

CarPlay users have similar complaints with the latest release that gave more screen size to CarPlay/Android Auto. Those complaints can only be addressed by Apple, not Ford.

The change Ford made was to give additional screen space to CarPlay/Android Auto. Both CarPlay and Android Auto are not using the space effectively.

In addition, many of the CarPlay connectivity issues people have had in the past were an Apple issue. The difference bring CarPlay (Or Android) screen format is 100% Apple’s bailiwick where connectivity can be a two way street.

Things are always more complicated than they seem. Adulting sucks. ;)
