NEW Install Ford Connected Charge Station Problems

NEWBIE! Purchased Mach-E a few weeks back, and had a Ford Connected Charge Station installed yesterday. I completed the setup, connected the app successfully (twice). The app displays “Ready to Charge“ in BLUE, but the unit is showing a white stripe scrolling from the center to left and right. Plugged in to car, nothing. Any tips? ‘F’ORD!

The car needs to tell the charger it "wants" a charge. Go to the charge setting in the car or the app and set it up.

I did that in both the car and the app. No change. It remains at “CHARGE PAUSED”

Your FCCS owners manual says that white, full bar, cycling to middle while plugging in means that "the charge station is connecting to the vehicle, preparing to charge."

Two thoughts come to mind: the installer miswired the connection from the charge cord to the circuit board, or your car has an issue. You can eliminate the second possibility by successfully charging on any other AC EVSE, such as at the dealer, a neighbor's home, or with the mobile EVSE (if you have that).

I see that while light spreading to (or from?) the middle when I plug in but it only lasts a couple seconds. Then it should turn solid blue or pulsing blue, depending on whether the vehicle wants to charge at that time.

I’ve been charging it with the mobile charger that came with the car. Works perfectly

I would get the company that did the install come back and make it work. It sounds as if they didn't bother testing it before they left.

It was a local electricain. And he did test it, this is the result we keep running across.

I’m with you, Rainy, when I first had my exact charger as this guy set up I called electrician and I said, do you know how or have you ever installed a charging station for an electric vehicle? so I called my air-conditioning company and I asked is there an electrician that is installed electric vehicle charging stations? They said they do he came out and he did everything by the book used instructions as well that came with the charger and everything has been fine since I’ve had mine. Unless they have installed one, I wouldn’t let just any electrician do it.

My installer failed to set the DIP switch properly. I turned the breaker off, set the switches per the manual and turned the breaker back on. Worked normal afterward.

In a condo my Wall Box charger is metered by the condo which provides the electricity. I've got things mostly working, but the car has to talk to the phone has to talk to the Wall Box charger which has to talk to the car ..... It turns out the charger and my phone can only talk to each other if they are on the same WiFi network. It may be a security issue. My car only reluctantly lets me change the limits to charging. I like it to be at 90%, except when I go on a trip and want 100%.
