I am planning to instal Ford Connected Charge Station ($799) level 2 EVSE charger on 60 amp breaker for 48 amp charging capability, but am questioning my subpanel capacity.
My subpanel in garage for EVSE is 100 amps fed from 400 amp main panel, The main panel is 100 feet away from the garage subpanel. This garage subpanel has available 3 out of 20 breakers spots available. The EVSE dipole would take 2 spots of 3 remaining spots in the subpanel. Currently 17 breakers supply: Heat pump (20 amp dipole), washing machine (10 amps), dishwasher x 2 (15 amps x 2)refrigerator (10 amps), gfi for toaster oven(15 amps), microwave (11 amps), coffee pot (8 amps), crock pot (8 amps) TV, internet equipment and other standard outlets and lights etc. By my best estimate, If all items fed FROM 100 amp subpanel were on simultaneously ( VERY UNLIKELY) current could sum to approximately 140 amps.
Since my main panel is 100 feet away from the garage subpanel where I park, I dont want to run another leg from main if possible.
My question is... can my 100 amp subpanel likely handle this instal plan?
