According to Auto News:

Mustang Mach-E: Ford’s Mustang Mach-E continues to face profitability challenges, with company leaders noting ongoing efforts to trim production expenses. U.S. deliveries slipped by about 2% in the first half of the year, while sticker prices increased on the Mexico-assembled crossover following new tariff policies. Although Ford has expanded the lineup with versions such as the Rally edition introduced last year, the brand has delayed a full redesign of the Mach-E until late in the decade. Despite the tariff pressures, signs point to production remaining in Mexico. (summarized)

Mach-E needs a mid-cycle restyle, new headlights, taillights, etc.

I still like the looks, but you need to give customers a reason to buy new vs. used that looks the same.
The MME did get new headlights in 2024. Tail lights have not changed. In 2025 they changed the AWD door emblems. While these are relatively minor changes (with the exception of the Select now havng the same headlights as the Premium), they are changes. I remember when cars got new tail lights every year so that you knew which year car you were looking at. 🤷‍♂️🐩

Dang.

I was hoping they would come out with a new look that was ugly so it would help the resale on my 2021.

FWIW, the words “full redesign” and “late in the decade” don’t eliminate the possibility of a styling refresh nor the possibility of it being in 2027.

True. In the past, Ford was on record as stating the refresh would be revealed "late in 2026."I took this to mean a 2027 model since a late 2026 reveal would in all likelihood be a 2027 model since that's how auto industry reveals usually happen. Now that we're seeing new language reported (sorry, didn't read the article since it's behind a subscription wall) it could mean anything since that language is more vague than the prior language. It could support the original language. It could be giving Ford some wiggle room to squeeze the redesign to a year or two later. 🤷‍♂️🐩

I'm not buying a new one until the charge port is NACS native. And that I only have < 17k on a First Edition. No need to sell it yet.

The charge port is the least of my worries on an EV. There are adapters available that I already own. If/when I get a car with a Brand T charge port, I'll have to buy all new adapters that adapt the other way for both AC and DC (even though I almost never DC charge). 🤷‍♂️🐩

That said, I am also currently not putting a lot of miles on my MME and I'm very happy with it, so it makes zero sense to get a new one any time soon. 😁🐩

Hey on the bright side it means our MMEs won't look dated anytime soon!
I still think my '79 T/A doesn't look dated. Oddly, the Gen3 cars do look dated to me. 🤷‍♂️🐩

It got new headlights in 2024.

2025 got heat pump, ventilated seats and various electronic system upgrades (new IPC, BlueCruise 1.5, ability to adjust charge amperage).

It’s likely already a thin margin vehicle which has only been made worse with all this tariff nonsense. Plus with such uncertainty around the tariffs, it makes it harder for companies to plan for future changes and for now it doesn’t make much sense to dump even more money into the MME for an extensive refresh.

Ford will probably just let it ride until the next generation with minor changes year to year.

I assume the next MME will be on that universal platform they intend to use moving forward, so naturally spending any more time tinkering with the existing platform would be wasted. They'll keep this one limping along for however long it takes to build the new factory/equipment.

Ummm… what is the direct market competitor to the MME that looks better? The Kia? The Hyundai? The Model Y? No, no, and no. The exterior styling is already great. The interior is great, too. The tweaks they’ve made inside - replacing the drive mode knob with a stalk - might be worse.

What needs a refresh is the software and the battery/charging tech. If that needs to wait a few years for actually better batteries to emerge, fine?

I went into my '21 Premium with the intention of a 10 year ownership. I have zero motivation to modify that at this point. If anything, the four years of OTAs have improved the operations, features, and reliability of the vehicle so superficial changes like headlights and taillights hold no interest for me. Further, the public charging infrastructure continues to improve, albeit at a pedestrian's pace, so clear sailing ahead anticipated for my driving pleasure.
