I’ve been having this issue for a while. I’ve already reached out to support and they eventually blamed my battery which I’m not sure is the problem.

If my vehicle is “awake” it recently used communication between it and Fordpass works fine. The issue is as soon as my vehicle sits for ~30 min it goes to “sleep”. At that point all communication between Fordpass and vehicle ceases. I can’t lock, unlock, remote start, etc. If I’m close enough for Bluetooth connection those features will work but still no lock/remote start.
Does anyone have any ideas before I go the dealer route? Seems like a cellular issue.

Your vehicle is likely going to sleep due to a low 12v battery. You have a 2021, I advise you check battery voltage, or have your dealership test it.

I just tested it the other day. 12.26 v and 378 cold cranking amps.

Cranking amps does not tell the whole story. You can have a bad battery that still tests good on cranking amps because it has degraded capacity. Voltage is a little low as well. I've previously warned you about your battery having marginal reported capacity, and at over 3 years old I would recommend replacement at this point in time.

You also have an extremely low left rear tire at 21 psi. Please take care of that ASAP. A low tire warning can cause the vehicle to stay awake and drain the 12V battery.

So fix the tire and replace the battery (reset the BMS after replacement), and you should be back to normal.

Is there an easy way to “test” battery capacity? I have access to a MBC-1000 battery tester at work which gives me the voltage, cca, state of health and state of charge. The tests I have done show a high state of health, but typically a lower state of charge. I’m wondering if my consistent lower state of charge had to do with PAAK and welcome lighting as I park close to the house and come in range of my vehicle many times inside the house.

i actually had a new tire installed this afternoon.

Capacity is difficult to test, it basically requires a timed or controlled drain. You need a special battery tester that will run a digital load. A rudimentary way of doing it would be to connect a 12V headlight bulb to the battery and timing how long it takes for the battery to go dead, then doing the amp-hour calculation and comparing to new. (Battery has to be disconnected from the car when doing a capacity test)

The car's BMS is able to keep track of capacity since it's measuring how much current is going in and out of the battery, however that data is not accessible.

If you are moving around close to the vehicle, I recommend disabling welcome lighting or paying to have a dealer update the BCM software to reduce the amount of drain that produces.

This is interesting. My ford pass never works outside of Bluetooth range since I got it

I use this one, so I know what the status is on the 12v battery, now that the 12v information does not appear in the Fordpass app.
I hope Ford implements it in an upcoming update?

I was referring to the Fordpass app and remotely monitoring the high voltage battery while it is charging and you are in a restaurant or store. Tomm said that FP doesn't work for him unless it's connected to bluetooth, so he wouldn't be able to do that.

AGM batteries require different equipment for testing than flooded lead acid batteries. There was or is a CSP for testing the Mach e 12v and if it fails the battery is replaced. My 2023 had this issue and the battery testing failed. A rare battery after its initial charge has acceptable performance after 3 years.

I have not tried to monitor charging from inside the store. Wen I have time I will poke around the menus and settings.

I installed a new OEM battery yesterday. I put it on a charger before installing it, then my car sat overnight which I believe resets the BMS. I tried to remote start the vehicle this morning and same result. In Fordpass it spun for 30 seconds and said "Remote start" failed.

Any Suggestions now?
