I've mentioned this issue elsewhere on the forum, when talking about other issues, but I want to make a specific thread to try to find out if this is happening to anyone else on a regular basis, and if there's a fix for it.

I bought my GTPE new, about 4 weeks ago. Ever since, the Connectivity Icon has been hit-and-miss. I can have the car parked in my garage, and it will work for a few hours or a few days ... next day, it might completely disappear for a few days. Same while driving on I-75 ... one day, it will be there while I'm driving, next day it won't be there. I'm within AT&T cell range at all times, so it should always be on, I would think.

The other thing that happens when the Connectivity Icon is missing is that "Connected Vehicle Features" (and the pull-down menu associated with it) doesn't work. Presumably that, combined with the missing Connectivity Icon, indicates that the car isn't connecting with Ford during the time that is happening.

The car had a failed OTA attempt at updating the APIM on Friday morning, and since then (60 hours ago), I have not seen the Connectivity Icon (probably turned the car on a dozen times since then, to check).

1. Anyone else have/had this issue? Is it normal? I don't think it's normal, because it never happened to my first Mach-E, unless it was out of AT&T range.

2. Is there a way to fix this? Do the dealers have a known fix? When I had my car into the dealership a week ago, the EV Tech said that he had never heard of a car that constantly had a missing Connectivity Icon.

Can you go into Diagnostics Mode (volume-down/back-search buttons simultaneously on steering wheel while in Accessory mode)

Then scroll down to the "Connectivity" tab and see what is working and what isn't?

Assuming I did things right with the button-pressing (and I think I did) .... I didn't see any "Bezel Diagnostics" or Menus.

What I saw was a Car Icon (for about a second) in the middle of the screen ... followed by a blue circle with an upward-pointing arrow inside it (for about a second) ... followed by 3 quick dots ... then everything reverted back to the Maps/Nav screen.

The car icon and 3 dots is the Diagnostics mode loading.
It does take a while though. Maybe 30-45 seconds?

If it failed, that's a bummer.

I'd try again and hold those two buttons for a little beyond the moment the mode starts loading?

So I tried it a couple of times, holding the buttons down for longer (60 seconds), as you suggested.

This was basically the timeline, both times: Press down the buttons ... 5 seconds later, I see the car icon ... the car icon and blue-circle-with-upward-arrow last for a combined 2 or 3 seconds ... the screen then reverts to Maps/Nav screen ... stays on Maps/Nav screen for the remaining 52 seconds.

Nowhere in the sequence do I see any words/menus/etc.

Strange.

I wonder if that's related to the issues you are having.

I'd love to see any codes you might have. You have anything that can harvest soft codes, like Forscan?

It's a shot in the dark, but can you soft reset the APIM (volume-down/forward-search) once and then see if Diagnostics will launch successfully?

It's late at night. So putting it off until tomorrow certainly makes sense. Lol

Start on the FM radio screen before you enter bezel diagnostics.

Starting on FM did the trick, Bezel Diagnostics working.

Connectivity check within Diagnostics says that everything is connected.

The reason the APIM update failed was due to a corrupt manifest and not due to connectivity issues. Your car is also not reporting any codes in the TCU that would lead me to believe there is a connectivity problem. I do not have an explanation as to why those icons are coming and going, but I can pull all the connected info any time I have checked your VIN (including right now). Whether you are seeing the icons there or not, your car is talking to the mothership.

Thanks again.

While you're there, are you able to show me the Available Updates? I'm taking it back to the dealer later in the week, and it would be good to know what's available to me.

This is what PTS shows, but in reality there are mode than these. Because you have a 2023 and are on Sync 23031, this may be the latest Sync version available to you until Ford releases more updates for the APIM/GWM/TCU/IPC for your car. I would need to check what FDRS shows pending for you, but that would have to be later in the evening when I get home. Remind me if that is the list you want. However, I would maintain low expectations if you are thinking of asking the dealer to them.

I’m having the exact same issue. Was there a resolution to this issue? I noticed today after doing a reset of the sync system, the icon popped up but when CarPlay connected, it disappeared.

I've been out of town since June, so I haven't been able to check. As of late May, there was no resolution. The dealership did do some complimentary updates of several modules at the dealership, but this specific OTA issue was not resolved.
