I have recently been told by service rep at my dealership that the unofficial cause of this was saltwater contamination during the paint dipping process of manufacturing. The problem also seems to be exacerbated in Florida and other southern states. They also mentioned they have stopped selling 2025 models in many places in Florida due to this. My car is currently being repainted under warranty.

I just wanted to leave an update for my out of warranty claim. The dealer says ford has agreed to cover 60% of the repaint costs. And repaint will be done on both front door sills, the roof, and both rear quarter panels.

I’m in Canada and the total cost is about $3,000, so I’ll have to pay just over $1,000CAD.

No info on the cause. Paint shop has never seen this before.

I have a 2024 MACH E purchased in February brand new- it has 10k miles on it now and my paint is doing the same thing on the back quarter panels and along the moonroof. It’s white, so it was hard to see, but you can see it in this picture. I took it to the dealership yesterday and they are sending me to another body shop they work with to have it evaluated. I’m super upset though.

Interesting. I posted because my white one has started doing this. I also live on the gulf coast in Alabama….

I have a '23 AWD and have the same issue. Took it to the dealer and they said that it just needed to be polished. Looked great for a few weeks but has since returned. Anyone else have better results? Contacted the dealer again but haven't heard back.

Get it back to the dealer ASAP for an evaluation. Purchased my 24 Mach-E in March 2025. It's in the shop right now being repainted.

It was extremely difficult to get it repaired because my VIN did not appear in the TSB. FORD initially denied the claim because of the VIN but I had a friend at Ford that helped me with them approving it. Car took 4 weeks to paint and I have had it back for a few months. I was told that the paint issue is only with the steel parts of the car. Crazy that they had to disassemble the vehicle and strip it down to bare metal.

Any issue with your car when you got it back? They had mine since 11/5/25. I hope to have it back early next week.

Has anyone had any luck with Ford offering a favorable deal on new car instead of having to wait months for repaint job. My paint is starting to show the issue seen on service bulletin. I know that a repaint will never be as good as factory paint job.

I’ve been dealing with this for months now and Ford has done absolutely nothing but string me along. Every time I call, it’s the same runaround — “we’re still evaluating,” “we’ll follow up,” “give it more time.” More time for what? This is a premium vehicle that Ford sold me with a defective paint job, and their response has been complete radio silence followed by empty promises on repeat.

The dealership submitted the case, Ford acknowledged the issue, and then… nothing. Weeks turned into months. I’ve called, I’ve followed up, I’ve been patient — and Ford has repaid that patience by doing absolutely nothing. Zero accountability. Zero resolution. Just “we’ll get back to you” over and over again.

If Ford quality control can’t keep paint on a car for two years, that’s a manufacturing defect — full stop. And if Ford won’t stand behind their product, people need to know that before they hand over their money.

Ford, if anyone from your team is reading this — and I hope you are — this is your chance to make it right. A full repaint is the only acceptable resolution here. Because right now, all you’re doing is turning loyal customers into people who will spend the rest of their lives telling everyone they know to buy anything but a Ford.

The same issue is starting for me. It is the worst above the doors but starting on the quarter panels also.

They repainted mine, but took 2 months to do it. And then my battery was wonky (wouldn’t keep a charge) and they had it for another month. I applied for a buy back, but never heard back. They returned it after “multiple updates.” And the battery is acceptable now, but still isn’t what it was before they had it for 2 months painting it. Never had this experience before and we have owned 3 Fords. Pretty disappointing. Wish I had an answer for you.

An update for me. I decided to go with the repaint option. Atlanta, Ga. In was first to do it at my dealer. Another came in soon after me. It took about 4 weeks and I had a mustang (gas) loaner. Not a fan of that car and looked forward to having the Mach E back. Paint looks good. One minor issue so will have to return. The lock and memory button in drivers side door does not work anymore. It’s not a fuse. Also, rear window washer doesn’t work. Both are probably just disconnected in doors.

Did everyone else get a loaner while the dealership had your Mach-E?
