I think it’s healthy that we point out the various shortcomings of our MMEs, commiserate and identify solutions - both DIY and things for Ford to include in future OTAs and builds.

But man, the grass is definitely not greener on the other side of the BEV fence. Tesla has had 10 US recalls just over the past four months and now:

Having my car slam on the brakes for no reason would scare the ? out of me - sometime my MME has yet to do, thank goodness.

I see that a couple of folks already posted on this, apologies for sounding like I found something new! But maybe it’s time for Elon to stop mocking NHTSA as the “fun police “… ?

Yeah it doesn’t look great for them right now. But at least they’ve got dependable OTAs already that can fix stuff like this.

One of the reasons I didn't buy my model Y that I ordered and nearly took delivery of. They had the problem then and still haven't fixed it. That was June 2020

I’m no Tesla hater and do respect the advances they’ve made - although I think the Y got hit with the ugly stick a few times… It’s just good to keep some perspective on *all* EV models right now - ours and everyone elses.

*All* cars. People were quick to jump on the Bolt because of a few fires. Hyundai/Kia just recalled ~half a million cars because the ABS module might set them on fire. Recall came complete with a 'don't park your car in the garage' warning. Sometimes shit happens. EV, ICE, whatever.

Agree.
Same recall for Ford with their Super Duty trucks. The brake pressure sensor could fault, cause a fire and burn the truck down. The recall installed a fuse inline with the switch. Something like 2 or 3 million vehicles affected.
