Let me start by saying I love my First Edition. I've had it since March of 2021. If Ford were to buy back my car, I would probably wait until the NACS plug was added and buy another Mach-E.
The TL;DR is that I haven't had bluecruise or any sort of cruise for 8 months (and paid for the 3 year in March), and been stuck at the dealer for 2+ months.

Here's the back story of my issue. January 15th, I had an appointment with my dealer, which is about 100 miles away. There are 2 dealerships that are within 3-4 miles of my home, but one lied to me (story for another day), and the other told me that they don't have the equipment or skills to work on my car. I bought the car from the 100 mile away dealer as well. They have actually been fantastic. Back to it: my appointment was at 9 AM, so I left my house around 7AM. That day, however, was a day of a crazy winter storm, and the closer I got to the dealership, the worse the weather got. While driving there, I got a message saying bluecruse was unavailable. I actually got within 30 miles from the dealership when my wife called and told me that the dealership itself had a message saying that due to weather that they were closed. So I turned around and started back home. The range was low, so I had to stop to get a charge. When I did I noticed that NONE of the cameras on the car were working - I chalked it up to that the entire car was covered with ice:

. I got home eventually. But after that - none of the cameras - including the driver watching cameras worked., just a black screen on the 15 inch screen, and no ability to turn on any level of cruise control. I called the dealership and told them what happened the next day. I assumed that something got too cold or got water in it. They scheduled me for February 22nd to come in. That was fine, and they fixed the cameras on the outside - but the CMR module had to be replaced. They told me that they'd call me when the part came in. They never called about it. Incidentally on the way home I got a message that one pedal was unavailable.

So in May I got the call that my HVJB fix was available, and so I made an appointment on June 4th to bring it in. I get there with only the one-pedal issue showing up, but of course no bluecruise. I thought that they had introduced the one-pedal fault bug when they updated the car in February, but that turned out to be a wiring issue. The HVJB fix and the one pedal were fixed within a couple of weeks, but the CMR module would have to be replaced. So that came, but the car refused to work. They did some troubleshooting, and replaced it more than once. They called Ford to get some engineering help, and nothing worked. So I called every week to get an update, with no real progress. (The dealer said they've called Ford but the engineering team is very busy, etc...)vMy car has been sitting there for a month now without moving (thanks FordPass for allowing me to see where it is) and the battery over these two months has gone from 60% to 40%. Last week I called Ford directly to see if I could expedite it. They told me that yes indeed that this has been escalated to the engineering team and that it's as far along as it possibly can be.

So I called yesterday, Friday the 2nd to see if anything had moved forward. He told me that they're still waiting for Ford. I said it's been so long that the rental's SiriusXM trial stopped as a joke. He then brought up the buy-back, not me. This leads me to my advice ask from the group - do you think I should attempt a buy-back? It's been 8 months without the functionality, and I even paid the $600 three year extension. I love the car, but paying for the note for my shitty rental (they don't loan out Mach-E's) isn't worth it. I'm also afraid to take it home because what if Ford all of a sudden wants to look at it.

What would you all do?

Even under the most generous state lemon-laws your car would no longer qualify as you've had it for too long. I'm guessing the bumper-to-bumper warranty is also probably up at this point, but if you complained about the problems prior to the warranty expiring, those should still be covered. I'd let Ford finish fixing it, get it back, and then sell it and get something else if you are still unhappy with the car.

I'm not unhappy with the car, have an extended warranty, and it was before the initial warranty ended that they were made aware of all of this. I love the car and honestly think it would be a shame to waste it. The service manager is the one that brought up the buy-back.

If you think the conversion to NACS is coming anytime soon, better update your expectations. I would think calendar 2026 will be the first opportunity to drive home in a Ford vehicle with a native NACS port.
it’s taken the better part of a year to just ship the adapter, the port itself will take even longer to come out.

I mean isn't the question what the buyback offer is? If it is sticker price the answer is hell yes. If you love it that much go buy a used one without whatever fault-central your car discovered is and pocket the difference. On the other hand if they're offering you $20k for it, maybe you prefer the devil you know to paying more out of pocket for someone else's problem-car.

Can you ask the magic 8-ball if the NACS port is going to be added somewhere, or replace the J-1772/CCS? I don't think Ford has been specific about that yet.

If they added NACS to the passenger side front, *AND* kept the J-1772/CCS on the drivers side that would be the king of charging capability. Existing Tesla SC cables would work without blocking anyone, and you could still access the entire EA network. I know it costs more to do it that way, but it would be incredibly versatile.

It's so disappointing that there aren't technicians that know and understand these cars enough to troubleshoot and repair them. It's a finite system. They aren't F18's
