Seriously, you have nothing to complain about. I just came from a 2021 Volkswagen ID.4 in which over 1 yr. we never received ANY updates
The fact that there are others with an even worse experience, does not make Ford’s failure to address a single customer facing bug in the now 30 months since this car was first manufactured any less pitiful.

Totally does not excuse Ford.

Just wanta add here that our early build 2021 VW ID.4 will be going in to our dealer for 4 (!) days of work to give it the first software update in its entire service life since June 2021 -- and to update critical battery electronics software, and also to test to see if there are any faulty battery pouches that need to be replaced.

The ID.4 software is so horrid and has had no update since we got the car, you have no perspective without using it for any amount of time how much better even the ship software quality on the Mach-E was compared to it.

My wife likes the car as a family car, but I try to avoid driving it at all costs due to the software and physical user interface.

Plenty of the bugs I experienced since I bought the car have been fixed. I'm confused as to all these issues, I'm sure they are real, but I'm not seeing them. I actually am in a really good place with my car now, no issues to complain about since all the updates were done. ?‍♂ Definitely weird the difference in experiences.

Ford’s priorities as to updates need adjusting and is disappointing l. VWs lack of updates is genuinely deplorable I think.

Those are just the ones I can think of at this hour of the morning that were in existence on day 1 and still exist. I don’t have them all, and only occasionally have one of them. Apparently everyone has the alarm bug though, and that might be why there’s no pet mode yet. ?‍♂

I think Ford's priorities for software need to focus on the OTA mechanism. It's insane that they do seem to be improving software and fixing bugs much more than a traditional OEM would definitely have done only 3 years ago.

However, most of the couple of hundred thousand Mach-E owners don't receive consistent and comprehensive updates of these modules OTA. It's really strange that they would invest in the software development, and have such troubled deployment for so long.

That's what I would fix first -- then you have easier potential to detect edge case bugs, gather feedback, and iterate.

I think some of our perspective as potentially non-typical cranky tech-saavy owners is colored by the updates that reach our cars, not necessarily where Ford is putting its internal resources. I wonder how many of the resources are supporting the fleet now, versus working on their future EV software platforms.

Where are you seeing it's most of owners? Pretty sure it's a small minority that have this issue. Or do you just mean the updates that are in FDRS not rolling out OTA?

I don’t disagree. I think we’ll see changes in delivery, quantity and quality of OTAs with the next Gen MME and its android automotive OS. That will leave the current os as a dead end though, but may allow Ford to resolve some of the customer facing issues in those legacy vehicles and some of the behind the scenes issues without the need for constant feature updates. Maybe. Perhaps.

I’m thinking for sure 2021 Job1 cars (can anyone say BCM and GFM?), along with a good number of cars with the “stuck due to bad PCM code” issue. There are also a number of FDRS-only packages that don’t go out OTA to anyone. ?‍♂?

I believe most FDRS has gone out OTA except for those modules that can't be updated OTA? Like the seats and mobile charger and GSM

The ID.4 was the one to beat when I first started shopping. The way VW abandoned their customers got them off the list.

interesting, my car definitely still has the "missing connected services menu problem" from time to time. i assume this is probably a TCU function, but who knows. will be interesting to see if that resolves when i finally get this one.
@MacherAWD mine comes and goes from power-on to power on. if that little arrow next to the wifi icon in your screenshot is missing, then when i click "connected vehicle features" i get a "please wait" dialog and then nothing appears. if the arrow is there, then i get the menu you show.

i think others have reported the same problem here so either we all have a bad TCU, or it's just another software bug that randomly manifests.
I received 4.2.4 on April 6th and just started noticing this issue with Connected Services over the past few days. I was out of town for a week, so this could have been happening closer to when 4.2.4 installed and I just didn't notice. Never had issues with Connected Services before.

Exact same behavior as described on the second post quoted.

They’ve gotten better at breaking less. ;)

A neighbor with a model s tells me he grimaces every time Tesla pushes an update. His comment is always, “What did they break this time?”

My list above was a non comprehensive list of issues that were in existence on Day of Job 1 cars and have yet to be addressed. As of today, they still haven’t been addressed.
