I was getting the message daily and brought in my car for warranty work before 36,000 miles. The dealership fixed it and I think they just updated the modules and not any hardware or re-wiring or replaced anything. Drove a few days and the error message didn't show up. Recently, the message is showing up again every few days. The car is out of the 36,000 mile warranty window. Does Ford warranty their warranty or is this a dealership specific thing? Like, if I get it diagnosed, would I have to pay out of pocket to get it fixed for real or would it still be under the warranty fix issue before the car went over 36,000 miles?

How many miles over 36K? There is usually a bit of wiggle room. Especially since you took it in for that problem earlier.

About 200 miles over.
You’re good. Just call or stop by the dealer. That can make note of the mileage, and if they are being assholes about the 200 miles, take it up with Ford.
