There are multiple spots on my daily drive while on ACC with predictive speed limits turned on (5 over) that the car thinks the speed limit goes from 55 to 25 and the car dramatically slows down, even though there was no speed limit sign. There are other spots when left turning from a 45 mile road to another 45mph road the car thinks it’s a 25mph road even though there was no speed limit sign, then it sees a 45mph sign and adjusts correctly until it sees the next one and assumes it 55 and the car sprints to 60. I know that I have to pay attention but having to turn the system off and on due to phantom sign/speed limits is concerning and a safety issue. How come Tesla can do this correctly and Ford can’t?

Not going to comment on what Elmo can or can't do.

The Mach-E reads signs AND A DATABASE.

If you don't like the predictive feature, simply turn it off.

I’ll just add that mine seemed to see something in a 35 zone that it read as 65 and adjusted accordingly. Before that, on my commute there was a bent 35mph sign that it read as 15 and would slow down very quickly. I haven’t used that feature in a couple of years now, I think it’s quite dangerous.

I've noticed that my 2022 MME GTPE will sometimes slow to 20 mph in school zones outside of school hours, even without a school zone speed limit sign that I see. Ghost school zones?

Are you sure it’s not reading a service road speed limit sign off the highway?

It happens to me on a stretch of road in Canada where the service road’s speed limit sign is on the left side of the road towards the highway.

I've seen the car read a minimum speed sign as the max, but I haven't witnessed the rest of your issues

It will read signs that aren’t just on the road you are driving on. I don’t know where they tested this but it wasn’t in Texas. We can have a lot of speed signs in the same visible area. Normal highway speed, hov speed, frontage road speed, etc. I don’t have it turned on for this reason. I watch it changes through this on a regular basis but use Waze to know the actual limit.

My ‘25 MME GT and my ‘24 F-150 both see ghost signs - and they are not consistent where they see these fake signs. I ended up turning it off in the truck. I’ve only had my MME for ~5 weeks so I’m still discovering where it sees ghost signs.

Yes, check for service roads, jogging paths and roads at a shallow angle to your direction of travel where the speed limit signs gets picked up by the sensors.

This happens to me on roads where there's a paved pedestrian path alongside and they have speed limit signs for that path of 20-25 mph.

Mine picks up a County Road 50 sign and adjusts the speed accordingly on a highway posted for 65mph. Another place it gets confused is with a sign that says "Speed limit 35 unless otherwise posted." Check to see if your issues may be related to some other such sign.

I agree on your suggestion to turn it off. I did. But sheeesh it worked perfect on my 21 F150. My job 1 23 select slammed on the brakes during the same afternoon commute as the F150 that handled it fine for every 2 years. Also getting the car sideways on a gravel road as it quickly decelerates from 45 to 25mph with no road signs.

ya Rick we all need to grow up and stop bitching about things. But have you ever installed an industrial piece of equipment at Ford or at one of their tier suppliers? I have worked 48 hours straight to get a piece of equipment to work to Ford specifications. I guess I’m a little pissed off when Ford can’t make something work as the advertised.

When this works I really like it and don’t want to turn it off. I drive through some real rural areas and the speed limits can drop very quickly from 55 to 35. This feature can be a real ticket saver. It would be nice to have a way to update the system, when limits change on roads after widening for example.

Just to let everyone know, the main road I’m talking about is a two lane road with farms on one side and the Mississippi River on the other. No side roads no off shoots or jogging trails. This morning the vehicle decided that in some places it would predict the next speed limit and slow down accordingly, at other places it only noticed the drop in speed when I passed the sign. If I designed a piece of equipment that promised a certain functionality and was 80% effective I would be listening to the users and try to make updates. I’m now concerned that they won’t listen because the MachE is the only all electric vehicle they have.
