Hello,
I'm having a Mach-e since December 2021. Since that time, I had only 2-3 times the light projection of the Pony on the ground.
However, I'm unable to replicate the conditions during which it happens.
Of course, it is in the dark.
But we tried with the FOB, with a PAAK, combination of both or separatly without success.
Even the Ford Dealer is not able to tell us which are the conditions necessary.

If someone can provide the solution for being able to replicate it with success, we will be VERY happy and Gratefull.

Regards .....Daniel

Many questions to be answered. The first, for me, is always, “How far from your phone/fob do you park?” An attached garage or close parking space can lead to your phone making a random connection to the car even when you don’t mean for it to. The car will only turn the welcome lights on the first couple times that it detects a key. If the phone or fob connects to the car and the welcome lights come on when you aren’t looking, then by the time you are, the car has given up trying to show off. I equate it to a happy puppy greeting you. It gets excited to see you. If you ignore it enough time, then it stops being excited.
Second question is when you approach, do any lights come on? Is it just the pony projection that doesn’t come on? What about the parking lights? If the parking lights don’t come on then either you don’t have welcome lights turned on at all, it’s not detecting your phone or it is the above “multiple key detections with starting” problem. If the car isn’t detecting the phone then that’s pretty obvious as you usually have to push the door open button multiple times
Beyond that there are the usual responses. The car must be locked. You just have folding mirrors on. You must have welcome lights turned on. Having walk away locks is helpful as it shows you when you’ve gotten far e ouch away that the car is no longer detecting a key. And the car detecting your phone is not reliable so if you want reliable welcome lights you should religiously use the fob.

So, to test, start the car (to reset the counter of how many times it’s detected a key). Turn the car off. Walk away far enough that the mirrors fold in. Wait 30 seconds. Approach the car with the fob.

  1. The mirrors MUST be folded (turn auto-fold ON)
  2. The welcome lights setting must be ON
  3. Your fob MUST be out of range of the car as @Murse-In-Airy stated above

I park my car in my driveway every night and the fob is always out of range; my puddle lights come on consistently whether I am going to my car at home or returning to it in a store parking lot. I always have my fob with me and both walk away lock and auto-fold are on.

Thank you all for your comments. In any case, this demonstrates how strange is the design of this feature.
The good point is that as I'm retired, I have plenty time to test the various recommendations.

Will keep you posted with our outcome ... if any
