Folks what do you do about a puncture?

Go to the dealer? Get the dealer to come to you? Go to any garage?

I suggest considering a purchase of a Modern Spare spare tire + their heavy-duty car jack, both designed for EVs. Kept me in action once already.

Take it to Kwikfit, they’re good and cheap!

Unless you’re in Nottingham then it’s Nottingham Alignment Svcs all the way.

Forget a spare, I’ve driven more than a million miles or more and never needed one weighing me down, sapping fuel economy.

Make sure your puncture repair gunk and inflator are handy and if you cover some mileage buy spare stuff from Halfords or somewhere.

I got 2 punctures same day on A1M south of Scotch Corner, 1 spare wouldn’t have been any use, one fixed with the gunk and I screwed a screw in the other hole just to seal it and get me home.

There are 2-3 older threads on this subject. Here is one. I carry my spare virtually all the time, but occasionally leave it at home if I need the luggage space. 90 percent of my miles are between my home in suburbia and my preferred home in the mountains, and I don't plan to have to wait for help if a flat occurs.

This thread brings up an interesting weakness in the EV infrastructure. We had an irreparable gouge in the side wall of our rear tire while on a road trip. Never saw or heard what did it. Long story short - I was able to use onboard pump to drive 2-3 miles before stopping to pump again. 9 pumping stops later we circuitously ended up at Ford dealer. No appropriate tire available anywhere else. Dealer had to have one shipped in, it arrived in pm of the next day. Could happen to any vehicle I guess, but the size and weight bearing capabilities were limiting for our case.

I plugged it myself and been holding fine for 15K miles. But depends on where and type of puncture.

If there's a discount tire store or American tire company (same company) they will fix your puncture for free (even if you didn't buy it there) if it's fixable (can not be on the sidewall or on the shoulder/edge of the tire).

In order to get to the next town or dealer or Discount Tire:
The inflator will do the job for a slow leak, a plug kit or the goop will do the job for a faster leak (although the goop may ruin your TPMS sensor), a tow truck (if you don’t mind waiting) will get you there, a spare will do the job for a blowout, or cut, or all of the above, and will keep you rolling if a tire needs to be ordered.

Everybody will make their own choice based on risk, benefit, and need.

Just goto your nearest tyre specialist. They usually have appropriate tyres in stock if it needs replaced

FYI, Tire Rack has several different tires for 18/19/20" wheel size Mach-E, available for next day (or sometimes 2-day) delivery in many parts of the USA. As a bonus very likely cheaper than a dealer tire, too. I get all my tires from them and have done so for the past 15+ years across multiple car brands.

I went to a big tire shop who wouldn’t work on it because the MME was new at the time. I took it then to a little hole in the wall tire shop where they saw the lift arrows and said ā€œjust like a Teslaā€ and popped the tire off, patched it, and reinstalled it. Almost two years now with no leak and no new punctures. ??
