I'm scheduled to have my HVBJV replaced later this week under the recall (i.e. electively). Although I haven't heard yet from my dealer's service department, it sounds like this work is being put on hold because it involves changes to the powertrain software modules. What I'm having a hard time understanding is why replacing the HVBJB requires these powertrain updates. I realize the software has to talk the hardware and maybe the new hardware has a new address that the software has to recognize, but if that's the case, why can't they use the version that was used for many months and that didn't seem to impact 1PD (or other as yet undiscovered gremlins)?

Due to sensor SKU changes, the software does need to be updated to a recent version during repair to be compatible with the latest HVBJB part numbers.

In theory Ford should be able to roll back the version of software offered in FDRS to the previous version, but this sort of change could take several days or weeks to implement.

Whenever you move on from your Mach E, I think I’ll have to sell mine and buy whatever car you buy so I can follow you to the next message board.

Really appreciate all of the help you provide here.

Thanks. Makes sense. But is this part different from the one that went in months ago? I would have thought they could use whatever software version they used when they put those parts in. But I guess dealers only have what’s in FDRS and it sounds like Ford will need to replace those either with the prior version or a newer one that doesn’t have the 1PD bug.

I've got two years left on the Mach-E, so we'll see what I get next...

For the GT, the current part went into circulation in November of ‘23 (not sure about the other trims). Software from that timeframe onward will work, but the problem is that there is no easy way to roll back from the current software. ??

Cool; Wisconsin is a bit far from New Jersey, but I'll head out there and we can go scar shopping.

It took them less than a day for the part replacement and software updates when they finally got the part. The part took 2 months.
