2023 with about 36,800 miles and the rear motor went kaput. On order, supposed to be in Tuesday. Should have car back then or the next day depending on when the motor arrives, per dealership.

I love the car and the problems have been minor so far, but this puts it in the 'will probably sell when it reaches the end of the drive train warranty' category.

Motor is part of battery, 8 years / 100,000 miles.

Had my FWD replaced a couple of months ago on a 2023 only done 14500 miles. Also 12v Battery as well at the same time due to the 12v charge not holding. Thankfully that is what warrenty is all about.

I have my 12 volt battery replaced about a month ago just on the right side of the bumper-to-bumper warranty.

What died? Was it the transaxle part of the motor assembly or the motor itself? There have been a few oil pump failures that led to transaxle damage, leading to a motor assembly replacement. 🤔🐩

I'll post the paperwork they give me when it's done. Right now I was just told 'motor'.

What symptoms or warning messages generated?
I can’t be helpful with that. I was on the freeway and it sounded like things were falling apart. The messages came fast, right on top of each other. The one I (sort of) remember was AWS was off. Dash lights came on too.

I drove to the dealership. There wasn’t anything nuanced about it, so I wasn't worried about providing details.

Kinda sounds like the EV equivalent of throwing a rod...

Me too, last fall, about 3 months prior to b-b warranty expiry. 👍🏻 Anyone approaching the 3-year time should have that battery's health checked for potential warranty replacement!

Updated update. Now Monday. Sigh. Better right than fast. One of these days it'll be both, but today is not that day.

I got the car back on Tuesday. I don't know why I thought it was the rear motor. Turns out it was the front. I've attached what I received on what work was done. Not an invoice, really, because it was free.

I was interested in all the problems with the 12 volt. They'd replaced that in past two months, also under warranty. But I also got another one of those.

Fun times when I went to pick it up. They wanted $7,500ish... I was surprisingly calm. Nope, it's a warranty play. 20 minutes later and I had my car, for free.

One very nice thing. My old motor had a high pitch whine when going around 30 mph. I found it really annoying, but had read here that it was common and was 'working as expected' so I lived with it. It's gone with the new motor. I like that a lot.

How do you know that?

I just had my mach e here in portugal problem on rear motor, oil bomb.
they say maybe have to change the whole motor but I’m already more than 100.000km and they say no warranty of the car, only battery .
