2 Mach-E family here. We have a 220 in our garage, so we’ve exclusively used the included ford mobile charger since we got the cars. Slowly but surely both have died. (This seems to be the norm from what I’ve read)

Looking for a decent replacement that I can use the same 220 outlet with. Not ready to hardwire yet as we are leasing and not sure what we will get next. Ideally something available on Amazon that ships fast! Ha.

i have been interested in their mobile version for a long time.

this statement below does give me some pause. Anyone have more information on why this is not a concern?

  • The original Grizzl-E mini was not safety certified. After years of saying it was about to be certified, the manufacturer finally obtained a UL listing for the current version. But it has features that are prohibited in a portable unit -- it is apparently certified only as a fastened/fixed-in-place unit, a categorization UL allowed them to put it in by including a wall-mount bracket in the kit. It is sold as being portable, perhaps in violation of the UL listing, but our criterion for the list above is that it be listed as a portable unit. It comes with a set of lots of different adapters. The downside is that to properly configure it for a different plug, you need to remove screws to remove the cover and set dip switches--an operation that is supposed to be limited to qualified persons doing an installation, not a consumer plugging in a portable charger. If you consider yourself qualified, or if you need it for just one plug type and setting, you might consider it.

You should check out this Youtube video. State of Charge does a great job of reviewing chargers.

The three things that crossed that muni grizzl-e off my list.

1 to change amperage you need to hook up to WIFI
2 it only operates at 220/240v no 110v backup
3 didn't know this until today but not UL Licensed

Got it, thanks for the correction. I bought a J+ boost off eBay that was right for me.

Still not being UL and needing to hook up the app to change amps is enough to be a deal breaker for me.

For me the mobile charger does not get used at my house. It's just a backup for when I am traveling. I would suggest you have a mobile and a at home wall mounted charger.

But that's me, choose what's best for you.

If you've already got the Tesla adapters why not go with one of their chargers? They seem to be priced better at $275, and from what I understand the quality is good.

If you are going to use it as a portable charger, this is the best option, IMO. They raised the price since I got mine last year, but still an awesome deal. Tesla also offers multiple mains pigtails so you can attach it to a 30A circuit and charge at 24A (which is why I bought mine). ??

I would suggest that if you do have need of a mobile EVSE and one at home, you purchase one for each purpose. Continually plugging and unplugging 250V appliances is not good for the outlet and because of the high draw for extended periods of time could lead to burning up the plug and.or socket. ??

Check if your utility has a rebate program for listed smart EVSE’s. Free might make your choice easier. I use an Emporia Level2 at 40A with a nema 14-50 plug. It’s been flawless.

You don't say what your receptacle is. If it is a 14-50, then the Grizzl-E has a nice unit with a thick cable. I bought it on Amazon and it sells for less than $400.
I use with my MME and it gives me over 35 miles added per hour.
The same cable from Ford gave ne 20 niles added per hour.
