Since the MME doesn’t come with a charger, looking for a recommendation for a Level 1 charger.

I have a Ford portable charger, a Ford Pro Charger, a ChargePoint Level 2 charger for my Lightning. The Ford Pro and ChargePoint work just fine with the MME.

Also got an Aplysia level 1 charger from Amazon. This charger does just fine to charge the MME to target but causes a charge fault when target charge is reached.

Looking for a recommended Level 1 charger that works with the MME and does not throw a charger fault when complete. I haven’t tested the Ford portable as I don’t want to buy a $500 level 1 charger. Looking for something in the sub $200 range.

Any recommended chargers?

Thanks - I have seen the Lectron advertised. Do you have experience with it? Meaning charging a MME and NOT throwing a charge fault?
I do not. The only level 1 charger I have used is the Ford Mobile Charger, and yes, I wouldn't buy one if it was for sale.

What‘s wrong with the Ford portable charger you already have? That’ll do level 1.

Yep - good question. I was going to try that next, but I kind of like having a portable charger to keep with the vehicle just in case - I keep the Ford portable in the Frunk of the Lightning. Looking for something similar, but less expensive, for the MME as well as an installed version - so I would likely buy two of the same type as long as they work well. One for the taking along in the MME, one for an install in the garage.

The MME can be charged in the garage from the Pro charger - no problem, but requires one to back in, pull the cord across the garage, and the cord is heavy. Looking for a light weight, 110 VAC 15A outlet variety so that my spouse can pull in forward and not have to drag the heavy cord across the garage. Thus this is a convenience issue only and a please the better half project. Has nothing to do with the capabilities of the Ford chargers at all.

So really asking - if you have used a sub $200 level 1 charger that does not throw a charge fault error upon reaching targeted charge level - what was the make/model? I could also add - it is wired with a NEMA 5-15 plug (not a NEMA 5-20) as I have the target circuit on a 15A breaker.

I realize it is a pretty narrow ask - thinking someone on the forum has this experience they might be willing to share. Really enjoy reading all the posts here.

I get it. I keep my Ford mobile EVSE in the trunk for just that reason. However, it has now been over 3 years, and it’s still wrapped in plastic. Maybe you should wait until the first time you encounter a situation where it would have been nice to have. You may find that the situation never arises.

I am really hoping for the same experience as you!

If you have a 20A circuit available (NEMA 5-20), I have the DuoSida L1/L2 charger that pumps out more electrons than the Ford mobile cord.

DuoSida pulls 16A at 120V which will charge 25% faster over the standard 12A 120V L1.

I have this at my parent's rural farm when I visit for the week or month...

Luckily, I now have a Tesla Supercharger just 6 miles away which is a big gamechanger since Fords now have access.

Unless you travel with both vehicles at the same time I would just suggest loading up your mobile Ford charger in whatever vehicle you are taking long distance. Why spend any more money on a device you more than likely will never use?
