I was on a business trip in my Mach-E last week (384 miles away) and at some point on Wed my FordPass START button to remote start the car became grayed out. The Unlock and Lock buttons were still normal and worked. It was just the START button that was grayed out.

I searched online and in this forum to see if anyone else had encountered this issue, but came up empty. There were some instructions at some Ford dealership website related to not being able to setup remote start that talked about completely wiping the FordPass app and reinstalling, but I wanted to find the simplest solution so I decided to start with the simplest thing I could think of and it worked.

Here's what I did that worked:
  • I went to the Android Settings
  • Pressed Apps
  • Pressed FordPass
  • Pressed Force stop
  • Pressed Storage and cache
  • Pressed Clear cache
  • Opened the FordPass app and the START button was back to normal and worked!
This forum has helped me so much with my Mach-E that I wanted to contribute something back to the community. I hope this helps someone else.

Just ran into this issue yesterday.

I assumed it was because my scheduled departure time ran and I missed it, then an hour later when I went to remote start it had reached the 2x "limit" (despite not really using remote start at all) for remote starting before starting the car manually. Today the button was still disabled even after starting and driving the car last night.

Force stopping the app and clearing the cache resolved the issue!

Yes! Thank you so much, @hack-e, clearing out the cache for the app fixed it for me. I was getting so annoyed and thought it was another fault with the car after the dealer replaced the 12V a week before trying to clear up my AdvanceTrac and Pedestrian Sounder fault warnings. Which, apparently, if you accidentally knock loose a wire connector under the steering column, you will get those warnings and also immobilize the car, unable to get out of Park.
