After nearly half of my first year with the car, I finally had enough of the stupid mobile charger issues and bought a dedicated charger. I narrowed it down to thermal expansion working the adaptor out just enough to fault, and threw a clamp vertically on the brick and adaptor connection to see if that fixed it. It ultimately did not.

I was on the verge of ordering a GrizzlE due to its adjustable amperage, but ended up trying the Emporia Energy charger instead for the same price. I am very impressed with it, and can now work on getting a different dealer to do a warranty exchange on my mobile unit with all the patience I need.

Just for clarity purposes, I think there are two different issues people are experiencing.

Scenario 1---Some have faulty Ford mobile chargers, which are getting replaced under warranty.

Scenario 2--- There appears to be a bad charge port that gets too hot and stops the charging process.

I lowered my current from 48amp (60 amp breaker) down to 40amps via my ChargePoint configuration. I've had two back-to-back successful mid-70% to 90% charges without a charge fault.

As of December you can’t change the Charge point home flex amp configuration. You have to call and have charge point change it for you…..two many issues was the reason for this. I just installed one yesterday.

Or, you can remove the ChargePoint Home Flex from your account and add it right back at the amperage you want. That is what I did and it shows the reduced charge rate on the app when I compared the before and after sessions.

I'm starting to experience the same issue. I got my car in November with no issues until a few weeks ago. Now I can't even trust that my car will charge. At first it would only do it once a night and now I'm up to two times per night. I hope that it's a simple portable charger issue.

Anyone experiencing charging interruptions can read the charge port temperature with obd2 dongle. CarScanner shows the AC Charger Coupler and DC Charger Coupler temperatures, separately.

Sensor called EVSE Type has several numeric values (11 - Fault)

Another interesting value is Charger Output Reduction Temperature %, but I haven't really figured out what it might mean.

Hello, Darriel! Send us a private message with your VIN and the name and location of your local Ford dealer. I’d be happy to see what I can do to assist with this charge concern. Thanks!

I am having the same charge fault issue here in the Texas heat while charging in my garage on the Ford Mobile charger. Car will only charge for about 30min before getting the fault on multiple attempts. Last night everything felt really warm on the mobile charger and on the car near the charge port. I waited until this morning when it was a little cooler, and it charged fine. The issue is becoming much more frequent for me.

Now wondering what it will be like in August...

Hi all had my MME for a few days and had questions about charging and saw this post. 2 questions.

1. Will the car not charge if it's all ready at 98% mine charged over night to 100% and shut off. I drove it and it's now at 98% and when I plug in the Ford pass says plugged in not charging.

2. Has anyone purchased a second portable charger? If yes, which one did you get. Hearing that Amazon has a cheaper one that works better than the Ford one.

I am planning on installing the grizzl-e in a few months so maybe that will be better.

considering that it would be normal for the internals of the charger to be ambient+20F.... the closer your garage gets to 100F, the more problems you are likely to have with charge faults.

I'll bet that if you get a little evap cooler, or a even just a fan, blowing on the charger you will have better luck.
