Road worthiness testing

Argh! After reaching out to Ford’s social media team and finally seeing movement on Palsapp, I just got a text from the dealership that the car (ship date in early December) is in the state, but won’t be here for another two weeks because it is undergoing road worthiness testing. Is this a normal step in the process, or should I take it as a red flag that there’s something wrong with the car and just walk away from it? It sounds like sales guy speak for “waiting on replacement parts.”

How are you able to check status on palsapp? I thought that was shut down to everyone but dealers?

Was your car by chance on chip hold for an extended period? If so, the missing modules may have been installed and Ford is now ensuring that all the systems are working fine. If this is the case, you’ll be informed in writing of the testing and the mileage will be adjusted so that it does not affect your warranty. Should not be much in the way of extra mileage.

In any event, I’d question the dealer further.

Alternatively some people have had their cars subject to random QC. They received a card indicating this with the mileage recorded on the card. ??‍?

I took over someone else’s order, so I don’t get the email updates, but the production date was in October, and the tracker says it was built in December. I’m assuming that indicates a chip hold. Hopefully it’s a routine check then. It would be nice if the process was even a little transparent. This has been by far the most frustrating and stressful car purchase I’ve made; I doubt I’ll buy another Ford after this.

Well my GTPE had 11 miles on it, so I doubt there was any road worthiness tests. Although some posts have mentioned that clever excuse. I agree, sure wish there was Ford transparency, rather than making us worry about what the heck was wrong with our car!

Call Ford at 800-334-4375, give them the VIN, and ask for a tracking update. They can see the vehicle visibility report.
