Dealer said no-one else has had a problem

Now you can tell him he is wrong. Use the words "Not fit for purpose" when you complain to esalesuk.
Will see IF I get a response to my email.

On the IOW the sat nav also took me down so extremely narrow roads. I was not happy about it and ignored the sat nav at times to stay more main road. I have also experienced this first hand.

I've also found that the built in nav was suggesting some odd routes.

I think the default of "Fast" would probably make you think it was using faster main roads, but in reality it's using what many other nav systems would call "shortest" - where any road is usable to give you the shortest number of miles.

I've switched mine to "ecoRoute" in the nav options and it seems to be making much better suggestions since. (image credit to @SnBGC)

Thanks, This was on my to do list as I had tried the other two with no success.
Can I suggest you report your findings to [email protected]. There are some very nice support people on this help desk who seem eager to sort things out. You will get a received receipt but then a follow up email where they do read your email and address the comments.

More than 6 years out of date--sounds about right for a brand new car...
Have only had the Mach-E for two weeks but the sat nav already drives us mad. My last car (LandRover) had 80 pages on how to use the sat nav, the car previous to that (Lexus) had it's own separate sat nav booklet of 150 pages. The Mach-E has two pages in the user manual, which hardly covers 1% of what you need to know!

It's pretty ridiculous. We learned not to rely on it, especially when we planned a trip to Oklahoma. We used Android Auto and a charging app instead.

Complain to "Online, Sales Help (.)" <[email protected]> who are very nice but will escalate your complaint. I tell them the start and destination, the route and show Google street map and street view of where the Sat Nav directed me. It seems to assume you can do 60mph in a single lane road with passing places (if you are lucky).

Make sure you complain ("Online, Sales Help (.)" <[email protected]>), it won't get taken seriously until they are inundated with complaints. It is not very intuitive and the display is not from this century. I haven't found anything it does well except that it is good at finding single lane roads to send me down.

My latest experience
Starting on the A39 North of Barnstable, heading for Withypool on the route suggested by Sat Nav set to fastest route. All seemed sensible until approaching Shirwell when we got an instruction to turn right down the lane shown. The blue sign says unsuitable for HGVs. :)
We ignored this but a little later got another instruction to turn right. Again we ignored it.
It did have another go and then it gave up and stuck to sensible roads. Fortunately we had purchased a map book and had worked out the route before setting off. Both Google and Apple maps did not work where we started our journey home as there was no mobile signal.
It seems to me that Sat Nav assumes you can drive at 60mph down these lanes as that is what the speed limit is. Driving some of these lanes at 30-20mph is stressful.

In my latest complaint to [email protected] about the Sat Nav I have shown them this one where the route was along the A36 and then it wasn't. I cannot see how this instruction meets any of the route classifications. As we had already given up taking any notice of the sat nav due to some very strange previous instructions this one was quite humorous. :)

You are correct. I am hoping to get all those having a similar experience to complain as well.
My complaint contained a series of other incomprehensible instructions from the Sat Nav. It seemed to have taken a dislike to the A36 and tried hard to get me off it, both to the left and the right. The only time it didn't try and get me off was when both Apple & Google Maps said turn right to avoid Salisbury, don't use the A36.

Mine took me to llanfair caereinion. Ther is 1 road from where we live that takes you right into the centre. Sounds easy.

Nope. It tried to take us down single track roads and up hills and through tiny villages from about 15 miles away. Could have been a nightmare. Thankfully local knowledge prevailed.

On other journeys it hasn't been the case.
