Self tire rotation

I lift one side at a time using a jack cross beam. I have four stands (actually I have more, but I use 4). I was originally considering using the excellent (but expensive) Jackpoint jack stands. I don't like lifting a corner at a time, so I either lift the front or rear on a car that can deal with that, or the left or right side on a car that I can't do the front or rear on. I much prefer to lift the front or rear to doing one side at a time, but the MME is what it is. ??

Oh, a few days of driving after I have reinstalled the tires, I always re-torque the lug nuts. ??

That looks like a really nice setup, Steve. If only I could figure out how to use it in my garage...

Steve, did you add a piece of angle iron to extend the cross beam to reach the lift points, front & rear.? Bill P

No, it doesn't. At least, not always.

My Ford dealer rotated my tires last month. TPMS still showed the tires at their pre-rotated locations. (I was able to see this in FordPass, because I had inflated front and rear tires to different pressures.) The dealer service guy then updated TPMS, and FordPass promptly showed the tires at their correct new locations.

This warning appears on p. 331 of the Ford Mustang Mach-E Owner's Manual: "Always perform the system reset procedure after tire rotation. If you do not reset the system, it may not provide a low tire pressure warning when necessary."

And yet nobody brought up the lug nuts should be torqued to 150 ft/lbs.

No, I just lift one side, set it on jack stands, then lift the other side. Not ideal in my eyes, but it works and it's safe. ?‍?

Where I’m at discount tire does it for free. And they rebalance them too.

Tire rotation is only HALF of the issue. You need to balance them at the EXACT same time. Electric cars go through tires faster than an ICE car simply because an ICE car leaves a stop light slowly then speeds up. An electric car with all of that torque goes to speed quickly. At start up you lose more rubber which is THE why electric cars go through tires faster than an ICE car. My wife and I EACH have an MME and drive 2500 miles a month EACH. She uses the stock Michelins and I tried Nittos that supposedly had an 85,000 mile warranty (not) and hers are 40,000.

we rotate and balance EVERY 5000 miles. We ensure air is at 39 PSI. We get 32,000 miles out of a set of tires. We are on set number 3 at 70,000 miles and we drive normally.

Well we can agree to disagree. Tire wear is more about having the correct footprint on the road. That is THE purpose of tire rotation. Doing balance checks will make your tires

1. last far longer
2. Let you know if you need a 4 wheel alignment.
Simply rotating them in your words is hogwash.

Considering your tires don’t seem to be lasting very long, I’m not sure I see the evidence.

OK, thanks for the reply….. I am adding angle to extend the footprint out to reach each lifting point, front to rear. Bill P

Well driving 30,000 miles a year is a LOT of evidence. What do you drive?? 10,000 or less??? You have to be math deprived if you do NOT see the evidence.

sure if you drive 1000 miles a month or LESS it may not be a big deal or you have NEVER set down with honest intelligent tire people who know their stuff. I pay $27 per tire ONCE to get all of this plus guarantee full replacement for ANY road hazard damage until 2 mm. For that price it is well worth the time.I max out my tires to get even wear and the most mileage possible.
