As a family that refrained from purchasing domestic cars in the past, my wife and I decided to give Ford a try with the Mach-E. It is an understatement to say we are thoroughly disappointed.
Several issues have made this car almost unusable. First, the bar that pushes the driver’s door open has on several occasions has decided to stay stuck in the outward position, making the car useless. Thanks to a member of the ME forum, I learned how to use a screwdriver to jimmy the lock to force the bar to retract. This has now occurred twice (on a car with fewer than 5,000 miles).
A new problem that rested its head today is that the rear doors cannot be opened, either from the outside or the inside. This means only two people can use the car at a time. This is a problem for our dinner plans for tomorrow evening. Although there are other issues, like the occasional appearance of “electrical problem - service soon”, only the message does not stay or throw any codes for the techs to understand what is happening.
I will be delivering the car to the dealer for examination. No one knows how long the car will be there, and unlike our previous dealerships, there is no loaners to be had. Wish us luck!

Sounds like the child locks are on for the rear doors. Try pulling the inside handle twice. Page 47 in the manual.

The child lock is off and I have tried pulling the opening lever from the front seat several times, with no luck.
Thanks.

Electrical problem is a discharged 12V battery on my 21. If I don't do a 30-60 mile drive weekly, the 12V never gets fully charged. Try turning off everything you can, approach lights, PAAK, WIFI, motion detectors, any accessories like a radar detector, or LoJack location detector. Set the exit time the lights stay on to as short as possible. Always turn the lights to the off position when exiting. You can get a higher capacity 12V battery ($450) and install it yourself, but Ford does not recommend it and it may void your warranty.

On the other hand I'm the owner of a '23 GT Performance edition that has not had any of those problems.

I hope you relay your concerns to your dealer service advisor and are using a dealership with a competent EV tech who can sort your problems out....I wouldn't be at all surprised if this turned out to be a 12V battery problem stemming from a car that sat too long on the dealer's lot before being finally sold. Add to that, if it was a car that languished for along time before finding a home it will likely be way behind on software updates that could be a contributing factor.

That's kindof where I was leaning on this one as well....load shedding as a result of a 12V battery problem.

Havent had any of those issues. The only thing that could be called close is learning the spot where the car picks up the keyfobs to open the back doors. And yes I did accidentally leave the child locks on and need to let in inlaws out of the back.

It would make me unhappy if the dealer doesn't offer a loaner. My car hasn't seen the dealer in over a year but they are very busy and as I remember I needed to schedule a loaner in advance. Alternatively you could get a hold of Ford's BEV team and they are likely to reimburse you for a rental. I think that's phone number is 1 (800) 334-4375

I will offer a counter opinion the Mach E is currently the best mid sized EV on the market. It's not perfect but has the least amount of problems and higerest customer satisfaction according to consumer reports. So your wife made a good choice

I feel your pain and will not call your post snarky!

So your car has some issues, but they should not be affecting your life as they are.

Press your dealer and call Ford to complain if needed. May be try another dealer.

They should also provide a loaner car if you are within 3/36k warranty, but you may have to schedule to get one of the few they have.

Worst case, you rent a car and never buy a Ford again if they cannot treat you right, and dont forget there is a lemon law. If the same issues continue to come back...take that route.

I have a 23 GTPE with 3000 miles and I am thoroughly satisfied. No issues to date. These cars are computers and like computers may need expert techs to sort it out. Sounds like your fear of dealers is the basis for your situation. I would contact Ford BEV team to start the ticket. Let the dealer evaluate and let the BEV team know where you are with the dealer. Lemon laws require unsuccessful attempts to fix the vehicle and dealer documentation. The BEV team is very engaged and want to see you have success. When the dealer is done they need to show you the problems are gone. Trust but verify.
