So, took my vehicle to dealership today to get recalls and software updates installed on vehicle. Basically they had it all day and could only get one module updated. They tried to install BlueCruise but said it would take 8-12 hours and after that it might not take (WTF!). They also tried installing latest version of Sync... but were having problems and needed to revert it. Now the screen is super bright at night and the display settings aren't working to adjust it (it's almost a safety issue it's blindingly bright now). Didn't get a warm and fuzzy from my service advisor about their capabilities to get the latest updates installed. Anyone else having issues getting this stuff installed and working? Thinking I need to find another service department to handle this.

I’m about as far away from you as one can possibly be and still be in the same country. If possible I’d look for another dealer to service the car but the dealer you took it to has responsibility to do your car no harm and return it in the sane or better condition than they received it in.

One of the forum members here who csn run VIN numbers might be able to look up what was done with your car and offer suggestions.

As a veteran of having to deal with my Mach E in for service ( only been able to drive ten days since July 15th) I can share with you there are two big issues you are going to deal with that will affect your experience and possibly the future performance and enjoyment of your vehicle.

#1. The Ford engineers are in over the head on all the recalls, glitches, and software issues that are occurring with the vehicle overall. From the front camera faults, to the HVB, to the blue cruise the engineers at Ford do not know where to begin. There are likely a myriad of other issues that will surface in the coming weeks and months with these vehicles as additional software updates are deployed.

#2. The service departments who employ techs need to rely on the Ford engineers for training and guidance on how to resolve issues with the car. If the Ford engineers don't understand the car, they can't properly train the technicians.

I wish you the best of luck in getting your vehicle properly repaired.

Hey there fellow Virginian,

I see you also have a Fusion - that was my previous car, a Fusion Energi.

Virginia being a large state, should you be located in my corner (NoVA), I hope your dealer isn't Koons Ford (brrrr... many bad sales and service experiences to include an appeal to the Virginia State Dealer Board for enforcement action on a defective car title). My NoVA Ford dealer is now Malloy Ford in Alexandria, formerly Jerry's Ford until about 2 years ago. They have a great service department, a great parts department, a great sales force - a world apart from the Koons crowd.

Hope this is useful info. Best of Luck!

Not all dealers are inept, my local dealer was able to swap a scratched lr window and do the 22s41 update in just three hours and I was remarded with the mythical 10mm deep socket that I found a week later that the mechanic dropped. (i actually returned it to the dealership)
With over 20 years experience at this dealership I trust their mechanics and service writers to take care of my auto needs

So I can tell you I'm not excited with the service departments at Malloy Ford in Winchester or Jerry's Ford in Leesburg for different reasons. If you're in Northern VA, I've heard the better MME shops are up in Fredrick and Hagerstown MD. You can also try Ted Britt Ford in Fairfax which is highly rated on MME work, but good luck getting an appointment. I called twice--because they have a special recall phone number you have to call--left messages for a call back, and never received one.

As for me, I kept reading the "do it yourself with FDRS" thread here and just bought all the equipment I'm going to need to do my own updates. The TSBs seem to be written fairly straightforwardly and I'm going to jump into this pond myself with the others here. Most people on the forum have had good success with it, and I trust myself to follow the directions carefully and be patient more than I would an overworked service tech who hates Mach-Es anyway because "nOT a mUStaNG" or because they don't bring a lot of service bay money.

Virginia is a small state, ranking 35th in area among the 50. It is roughly half the size of the average US state.

No need to thank me.
Large topographical and cultural differences depending on where you are. People aren't necessary accustomed driving to NoVa if you live in Blacksburg or Onancock.

Haha - it's quite a large state if you have to drive the length of it.

Thanks for the tips... I've made another appointment with my local dealer... Purvis Ford... and have ?. But I do think maybe I'll make another one at one of the dealerships in NoVA just in case.
