Some places you get a ticket for backing in
the violation for illegal backing is when you back INTO TRAFFIC.
It is always legal and correct to back into a driveway , parking spot, etc. from traffic. (called turn signals)

That "law" is only for revenue collecting. Even if posted, a good lawyer/insurance company would certainly beat any citation (illegal backing is just that - safety first, and always) for legal backing
?‍♂ it’s still the law.

Not sure it’s worth getting a lawyer for a $45 ticket.

Pretty much any parking ticket is for revenue collection……..and enforcing parking laws.

I see that main reason for pulling in rather than backing in is so that law enforcement can scan registration plates. A simple solution would be to have a registration plate front and back as per the UK.

Reverse parking is ultimately easier as you have a tighter turning circle, and safer as you can see to pull out.

Well actually I was getting gas. I love doing this btw. Two gas cans for the mowers.
Aren’t you worried that your car will spontaneously combust with all that highly volatile fuel in it? I certainly hope you park at least a quarter mile away from your home ????

My state (Pennsylvania) doesn’t have front registration plates. I’m sure it saves the state money. Personally, I’d love to see states do away with physical registration plates entirely and go to some form of electronic transponder that could be pinged.

With 360 cameras and cross traffic alert, I would say your car backing up out of a parking space may actually be safer than you going out forward. Cross traffic can see things before I would.

Of course not every car has those features….. yet.

Plug-in hybrids should be banned from public chargers ?
As a former plug-in hybrid driver I disagree. The objective is to increase emission free vehicle miles travelled and preventing plug-in hybrids from charging is the opposite of this. They actually did ban PHEVs from charging for a while in Beverly Hills but in the end common sense prevailed.

What we need to do is to get drivers to stop blocking chargers when they are full. It is especially bad at hotels, which usually have very limited charger availability, if a PHEV camps at the charger overnight even though it only needs a couple of hours for a full charge. PHEVs usually don't have the ability to use DC fast chargers so the solution is more level 2 chargers especially at hotels.

That is the point indeed. The local jurisdiction creates "laws" that are not just: gambling on citizen apathy and unwillingness to stand up to injustice and, as you state, not worth spending money on a lawyer to defend your privileges/rights.
Illegal backing or legal backing has nothing to do with parking laws.
It may seem trivial or insignificant, but when you add up all of the trivial and insignificant intrusions on your freedoms........

Actually the only point of that law is to help enforce parking laws.

It’s only in places with paid parking with signage and for enforcement purposes.

Of our freedoms worth fighting for, this wouldn’t make the top 200 for me. ?

Be careful what you wish for. Fighting this might result in those ugly front license plates other states have to deal with. Hard pass.
