Hey everyone,

Anyone has any tips, ricks or diagrams for Shark Fin antenna removal and reinstall. I’m trying to do a DIY black vinyl roof wrap.

Thanks!

I would not remove the antenna. Have them cut around it. To remove the antenna you need to drop the headliner because you have to loosen a bolt underneath to allow it to come up and off. There are two connections going to the antenna and both of those can only be disconnected from under the headliner. To remove the headliner, you must remove the A, B and C pillar trims (and you are dealing with airbag trims here) and all four grab handles, roof console, etc. If you want I can post photos from the service manual on how to do it but it is not easy and you run the risk of breaking clips and or trim pieces. You cannot just drop the rear of the headliner as it will permanently crease it and then you will have a very expensive headliner to replace.

Thanks for your reply. I agree, I’d rather not mess with the airbag compartments and/or risk damaging the headliners.

Did you end up wrapping your roof? I’m looking into buying material now but since my car is out of commission for several more days (or weeks, who knows?) I can’t measure the roof panels. Seeing if the 1’x5’ standard rolls from 3M would work.
