While traveling in Californian this past weekend, I was routed to a Shell Charging station.
I'd never used one before, but since I was there, I decided to use it.
There was no indication of what rates it would charge, but I assumed that it would probably be 48¢ per KwH; similar to Electrify America and evGo.

I was wrong!

It charged 65¢ per KwH!

Steer clear of them when there are other chargers nearby; I should have!

That's not actually that exorbitant, considering EVgo's rates vary from $.42 to $.68 per kwh plus a $.99 flat fee depending upon where and when you charge in SoCal (take Temecula for example https://www.plugshare.com/location/100503). Expect EA to go to the TOU model soon as well.

By contrast, here in the great state of NJ EVgo's rates can hit $.72/kwh from noon to 9pm, such as if you charge while doing your grocery shopping: https://www.plugshare.com/location/540766

I ran into a charger just off I75 in Florida, located at a truck stop. They charge a $10 plug in fee. I now check Plugshare before I route to any charger.
