So I am too busy to pay alot of attention but I don't necessarily understand the difference between navigation, BlueCruise and FordPass (I think the app which works fine). I was getting the three year BlueCruise expiration warning and didn't renew (I think hands free driving which i don't use). Navigation and routes still work, traffic has completely disappeared but tbh I need to check the settings. All confusing and honestly I don't have the $400-500 right now to renew BC.

BlueCruise -> Hands free driving. Note that one can still enable "Adaptive Cruse Control" (maintain speed/distance basic on distance to car in front of you), and "Lane Keeping". So, for the most part you can get most of "BlueCruise" as long as you are willing to leave your hands on the wheel. With maybe the exception of signaling a lane change and have BlueCruise do that for you. And I guess in the future versions where it will go around a slow car automatically, that would be BlueCurise too.

Navigation, that is the map, and directions. It doesn't completely go away if you don't renew it. It removes the updated maps (back to when the car was manufactured), and real time traffic. You can also use other Apps like Android Auto/Car Play, to get the same kind of functionality.

FordPass is the Ford App and it isn't going anywhere, it doesn't have a subscription.

I never used ford nav when it was available to me. Google maps via CarPlay is my way. I’m not paying for a service that duplicates something I get for free. In my overly cynical opinion, the people who pay for Ford Nav are probably the same people who go to oxygen bars, buy water bottled “from the source” (that source being the San Fernando Municipal water supply) and get Reiki.

In the 3 years I had free Connected Services, the Ford Navigation helped me one time. I was making a 75 mile round trip. I had enough battery to get there and back, but I was going to be under 10%. The temperature dropped significantly while I was out, and I was a touch nervous that I might not make it. Apple maps really really wanted to route me to a charger. Ford Nav knew that home was a charging stop and told me that I could make it home without stopping.

As others have mentioned, if you frequently road trip and have an iPhone, Ford Connected services is the only option for preconditioning the battery on the way to a charging stop. If that does not apply to you, then you don't need it.

You can add it back at any time, too, so you can just let it expire and see if you miss it.

As of about December of last year, Android Auto/Google Maps will also do the pre-conditioning of the battery before getting to the next stop. Also, it knows your state of charge.

Thanks = still unsure why traffic is not working and my nav used to guide me to carpool lanes and that stopped, nothing I cannot work around just annoying.

Traffic and several other features in the navigation system are dependent on the subscription services in navigation. If you have let the subscription lapse, they don’t work and the navigation system becomes a basic dumb navigation device. ??

This does not work for iOS though, only Android.
