But they do share data when you log into your Google account in the car, it becomes a connected device in your Google account. Also, you have access to the Google Playstore, which really makes AA (and even CP) obsolete. I download apps to my Hummer and then just log in to my accounts in the vehicle, works fine, and I am an iPhone user.
GM wants access to your data. They don't care if Google also gets access. What they don't want is Google or Apple getting your data but them not getting it. That's why they ditched AA/CP. I have heard good things about the GM system. And GM Supercruise > Blue Cruise. But no PaaK is a deal breaker.

SuperCruise is way better, works on two lane roads and works when pulling a trailer. Just as an example, on a trip from Phoenix to Vegas, BC works 25% of the way, SC works 90% of the way there.

As far as data goes, GM and Ford both have your data as soon as you buy the car, set up the phone app and set up a charging account. Google has none of my credit card data, but Ford and GM do have it.

Sure thing. It’s a softer and much quieter ride than the MME. I have some guest in the back seats and every dip or bump almost jostled them about.

That galaxy gray was almost enough to get me to go Blazer EV. Lol! I used to do promo work for Chevy and there were many people who were very bummed when we told them galaxy gray is not available on any ICE vehicles.

I think for people that have never had a CarPlay or AA enabled vehicle, not having it in their new vehicle probably won't be an issue. But for most people that have had it, it'll be like going to a vehicle without a steering wheel. I'm definitely one of those most people, so a hard pass for me.

what's weird is that i rented what i think was a 2024 ICE equinox and it had CarPlay. made me think that maybe GM reversed its decision. i wonder why that version of the car still has CarPlay.

I don't like the bumpy ride either, that's why I'm upgrading my 23 Premium to Rally Springs and upgrading sway bars tomorrow!! :)
That's the biggest reason we'll be upgrading from the Mach-E to a Lucid Gravity soon. We also recently got a Porsche Macan EV with air suspension as our 2nd car. When I drive one then the other, OMG, night and day! That's my only major disappointment with the Mach-E... the stiff suspension that feels like I'm bottoming out on every dip and crack. It's like there's no springs at all.

They all have your data……… but who cares?

All they do is use it to show you advertising for things you’re more likely to be interested in.

But if you don’t like that you can hide your data and play a fun game of “advertising roulette” where you may see ads for baby diapers AND adult diapers back to back. 😉

I'm very tech forward and am not as bothered by privacy issues as some are (and that's fine - I get it). I use Gmail, Google Photos, we have Amazon Echoes all over our house, etc. I fully buy into the idea that if a service is offered for free, I am the product.

So, my point isn't that I care about GM or Google having my data; it's that data=money and GM is apparently done giving away a big chunk of driver data to Apple and Google.

I believe this is the same reason that many OEMs dropped plans to adopt CarPlay 2 that had Apple taking over the entire dashboard.

Yes data=money for sure.

But I actually see it as a good thing.

If car manufacturers get revenue by selling our data, it actually makes the cars CHEAPER.

It’s the same thing with TVs. Why do you think you can buy a 50” 4k smart tv for $170 right now? https://www.bestbuy.com/product/insignia-50-class-f50-series-led-4k-uhd-smart-fire-tv/J2FPJKSFVR

It isn’t because it’s super cheap to manufacture. It’s because they make money on advertising. https://www.pocket-lint.com/real-co...ext=There are ways to shut, the cost of the TV.

I would rather my devices be smart and cheaper for sure.

Yeah man you’re still missing my point. I’m not arguing about whether data collection is good or bad. Just saying GM wants the slice of that pie that it had previously been ceding to Apple and Google. Now they own the center screen and they own all of that data, too. Of course, like Ford and every other manufacturer they've already got all our driving data.

And you’re missing mine.

If GM retains that data and doesn’t sell it to advertisers…… your car will cost more because they aren’t generating revenue from your data.

So more expensive car PLUS less features. Sounds like a lose lose for the consumer.

The Blazer looks good (and oddly nothing at all like the Blazer we drove from Albuquerque to Alaska and back in 1978 - 11K miles in five weeks🤣).

I agree - the Blazer is a good looking vehicle, which is surprisingly rare in the CUV EV space. I’d like to know how the fit and finish of the interior stacks up to the MME (which I consider very high quality for a non-luxury vehicle).

If the Blazer has a significantly cushier suspension, that would be a nice improvement over the MME, which is way too stiff.

Lack of PAAK is a surprise. Granted, it doesn’t work nearly as well as the fob, but I’ve still gone fob-free for 4 years and I don’t ever want to go back.

I love CarPlay and I’m basically hostage to the Apple ecosystem at this point, but I’m open to persuasion that Google or the manufacturer’s interface could work better. Heck - even I acknowledge that the audio fails to load on wireless CarPlay about 25% of the time, which is annoying.

I’ve heard SuperCruise is better than BC, but very pricey? I don’t plan to renew BC after 2026 unless Ford drops the price considerably.

Don’t know anything about how the Blazer stacks up in range, 0-60, and charging curve for a 2-motor extended range model comparable to the MME AWD Extended. But these specs are all very important to me.

So I now have a new improved ride. It came together nicely thanks to @markboris !!, Bouncing gone, at least for the ride home from Sonora to Oakland, I still have not had a chance to go my regular routes to compare, I’ll post updates.

I can't get past the hearse-like rear end of the Gravity...
