It is not the same part number as before. This post shows the part numbers from November to the recall.

https://www.macheforum.com/site/thr...-powertrain-software-update.32557/post-732435

There was no C part for GTs prior to the recall. The old C part you are referring to is for Premiums and has a part number of NK4Z-10C666-C. The new recall part number for Premiums is NK4Z-10C666-E.

For the GTs, there was never a C part. And the old Premium C part IS NOT the same as the new GT C part. The new GT C part is LK9Z-10C666-C. Notice the first half of the Premium and GT (NK4Z vs LK9Z).

Side note, I just realized the part numbers end in 666, coincidence?
Of course, HVBJB really is diabolical of nature. It is the spawn of satan himself!

Thats the truth. I haven't hd the pleasure of experiencing it yet. I am dreading the inevitable time it comes.

It’s not something you really want to experience. Well, unless you are @heisnuts but even he threw in the towel. ??

I told ChatGPT about our struggles, and asked it to write a song inspired by Hallowed Be Thy Name from Iron Maiden to explain how we all feel about it all (it’s Friday evening after all). Might it resonate with someone:
———————————

I'm driving in my Mach E when the wrench begins to flash
Reflecting on my bad luck and it doesn't make me laugh
'Cause any minute now I'll get the dreaded HVBJB
The range of miles for me is running low
Running low, yeah

When the screen comes to tell me the last rites
Take a look at the bars, they're all grey and white
Of a car that has gone very wrong for me
Can it be that there's some sort of error?
Hard to stop the surmounting terror
Is it really the end, not some crazy dream?

Somebody please tell me that I'm dreaming
It's not easy to stop from screaming
But words escape me when I see the tow truck
Tears fall, but why am I crying?
After all, I'm not afraid of dying
Don't I believe that there's a better car for me?

As the driver drags me out to the highway
Somebody yells from a Tesla, "Hey, loser"
If there's a God, why has He cursed me so?
As I ride, my shame drifts before me
And though the end is near, I'm not sorry
Catch my soul, it's willing to fly away

Mark my words, believe, my car is gone
Don't worry now that I have none
I've gone beyond to seek a new one
When you know that your time is close at hand
Maybe then you'll begin to understand
Ford down here is just a strange illusion

Yeah, yeah, yeah
Hallowed be thy name
Yeah, yeah, yeah
Hallowed be thy name
Yeah

It's not that bad IF you have a good dealer to repair it. The problem I ran into is after the first one, both dealers in my area really lost interest in assisting so the subsequent repairs took longer and longer each time.

Now that there is a recall out on it and dealers might get a lot faster at replacement and getting parts, the process might improve. However, I hear right now parts can be hard to come by since there has been a rush of cars coming in for the recall and dealers have been ordering a lot of parts all at once.

I am sure you posted somewhere but how did you get your data to Ford engineers? Did the dealer facilitate that or did you somehow call corporate and beg enough until something happened?

I got my first HBVJB failure on 12/30/23. Honestly didn’t think I’d see the actual failure and would just inevitably have it replaced by the recall. But after seeing that people have had 3 failures does make me concerned. I just wonder if it’s less the part and more that maybe something wasn’t done correctly during the replacement process?

My dealership was saying that my car was throwing codes stating it had at least 2 bad battery cells and they were ordering parts to replace those as well. Interested to see how that plays out. Said they have no ETA on my replacement as I’m the first issue they’ve had to work on… which is why I circle back to, is it possible something wasn’t installed correctly in relation to these multiple failures

As you may know, Ford monitors this board and they reached out to me. I was happy to help out and was really appreciative of the assistance they gave me with dealing with the local dealers.

Agreed. The tech at the dealer I took mine to got it done in a reasonable amount of time. The service advisor is another story completely. He never returned my voicemails or other messages requesting status and when I got fed up and went there in person he said “Huh, your car was done yesterday.” ??

Were all of your failures either the original part or the second generation part? ??

That is great to hear, really hoping they put all of your data to good use on the new parts.

I had failures of the original, 2nd gen and remanufactured parts. It was after the last reman part failed that I threw in the towel after the wife said there was absolutely no way we were ever going to be taking the car on any type of road trip together. She actually said if I was going to do that she will meet me there in our ICE SUV.

I am sure that happened as the engineering department was really eager to get my data from the tracker I let them install. I also saw Ford EV testing vehicles with manufacture plates in my area heading out to the roads I blew the HVBJBs on shortly after giving the car back. I am sure that was no coincidence ;)

That’s what I remembered. Glad I wasn’t mis-remembering. The third generation parts are hopefully due in part to the data collection they did on your routes. ?? Mine is a RM second generation part, so fingers crossed on it. ??
