Does having an OBD plugged in all the time drain the 12v battery? That's news to me.
Yes, anything other than an OBDLink MX+ draws too much standby power to leave plugged in. OBD adapters can also cause a battery drains if data collection remains active. You must not forget to disconnect after finished with data collection or the 12V battery will get drained since the car will not go to sleep.

If you are experiencing a 12V drain, the first thing you should do is unplug any dash cams and OBD devices to see if that resolves it.

Thanks for that clarification. I have an OBDLink MX+ plugged in and for a couple months now with no ill effects ;-)

I suppose something like a battery tender with https://a.co/d/c1djNwn would keep the 12v battery healthy when there’s little driving (at least a battery tender with the direct battery connectors have done wonders for my various ICE vehicles over the decades). Ford’s hiding the 12v battery makes the OBDII connector appealing (as an alternative to hacking the Frunk panels … which I would do, but it’s my wife’s MachE ;>)

Have been greeted with this notification twice in the last couple of days. Shows up when I try to start the car. Car starts fine and the screen opens after progress bar finishes. Anyone know what it means?

I've exited the vehicle without shutting it off before and come back to this message.

Don't use accessory mode (power light flashing) because it can drain the battery and cause that message, just like on an ICE vehicle. 12V is not being charged in accessory mode.
