Thank you this is helpful. This morning in Redondo Beach, the low was 52 degrees. After a charge to 80% and preconditioning my range was 167miles. This is down from the last charge to 80% just a few days ago at 184miles and lower than my first month of ownership just at 224 miles. Thinking something is off here... Guess I need to do a calculation of the miles per kwH or something.
Nothing is off, your car is fine.

You’ll learn to ignore that range estimate number.

Your car has no clue how far you can drive when you start it up. It doesn’t know how fast you will go. All it knows is how much you charged it, how you drive it recently and what the temperature is.

It uses those 3 inputs and guesses a range.

And like the dozens of other threads have said, your range WILL drop significantly when it’s cold out. Totally normal.

We have experienced similar issues. Usually after an OTA Update. Then after driving a day or two, all returns to normal. Range returns to better than advertised.
I hope you're right, but meantime will bring up this range loss at my next service. A couple of specifics here:

1) We know very well how Guesometers can behave, having owned several EVs in the family over the last six years or so, both NMC & LFP chemistries. The latter much prefers being charged all the way up to 100% from a relatively low SoC via a AC kw home charger. In fact our Mach-E Select has lost far more range now than any of our Chinese EVs prior.

2) This is in no way related to winter, driving conditions or driver behaviour & so let's get rid of that one: is summer here in Australia and the car is used 99% in urban coniditions,, ie, ideal for an EV.

3) Now what is happening now is that while the Select used to consistently charge up to 430k range 'guess' (& despite the fact that the car is already advertised with a highly optimistic 470k WLTP rating) - it now only consistently charges up to 380ks or so & has been doing this for the last couple of months with the same routines as per earlier.

The obvious next step would seem to be to take it up with the dealer & this present 380k range is a hell of laong way from the claimed 470k. Am wonderring therefore if this really is some kind of defect & premature battery degredation issue rather than the usual 'silly driver' rant. We shall see.

Futher to the OP here I'm hoping this could be the case & especiallli in light of the fact that OTAs have only quite recently commenced in AU. Needless to say, have also been though the usual SYNC resets (driving behaviour, trip meterrs etc) but no change as yet.

The range estimate is just a guess based on your driving habits, battery temp and the weather.

It’s only a guess. The car doesn’t know if you can drive 320 nor 290 miles. It’s not from the future, isn’t a wizard nor a predictive supercomputer. ?

Whatever car you drove before this one probably had a “miles until empty” number too that constantly changed. Similar idea but now the weather is also a factor.
