Hi, I went through the previous wiper post threads, but the majority seem to be about the random wiping. My Mache does that too, but it isn’t NEARLY as annoying as the cruddy wipers themselves. My car only has 3300 miles on it but the wipers clear the front windshield like they are 10 years old. Do others feel the same way? Can anyone recommend a better quality wiper that they have swapped out with? I saw a post about using a longer blade on the back window too. Has anyone done that with success? Thank you in advance!

I’m having similar issues, and will try a better windshield cleaner first to see if it helps. You might also want to wipe the rubber on your wiper clean with a damp cloth to remove any residue.

It might be your windshield. My wipers sucked when I got the car, so I clayed the windshield to decontaminate it, and added a tiny bit of rain repellant. Stock wipers are now really smooth. Glass just picks up a ton of contaminants while the car is sitting at the factory.

I’ve tried many brands of windshield wipers, and I actually prefer the Motorcraft ones believe it or not. They are smoother and wipe better than the ones you can buy at the auto parts stores.

Thank you Lee and Greasemonkey. :). My husband wiped off the blades with alcohol earlier, but we’ll try the claying thing. (I’ll have to google that first though. Lol). It makes a lot of sense that there would be contaminates from the factory.

Alcohol can dry out and harden the rubber, use dish soap instead.

actually my wipers have lasted way longer (15 months) than I expected here in Florida. I do keep car in garage though.

Good to know. I just ordered a clay bar on amazon after googling how to do it. I tried the putting your hand in a ziploc and running it over the windshield tip and sure enough, I felt lots of impurities. I think the clay bar is the ticket. Thanks Lee…

Suggest the vinyl, tire and plastic/trim (VRP/VRT) products you can purchase from chemical guys, Adam’s, etc.

This is the stuff you normally dress the tires with.

Put a thin coating on the front and rear wiper blades. Let sit for while (apply just after final rinse on windshield during wash) then wipe down again at the end of your drying process. Wipe excess off wind shield.

Motorcraft blades are actually pretty good!

For the absolute best experience, also ceramic coat your windows (outside only).

I agree with the Chemical Guys recommendation above, they make some awesome stuff. I responded to someone asking about a ceramic coating for the windshield in a different thread that you might be interested in. Found an amazing window cleaner/coating for after you do the clay bar (which I also did the day I brought my MME home). My post

Thank you, Mindee! I’ll try that!
