Ever since my car was updated to 5.1.1, navigation route gets dropped if I then select the Android Auto screen. It also gets dropped when I receive a phone call!

Reached out to Ford chat, and the response makes it sound as if this is intentional:

Thank you for your patience, Mike. After reviewing my resources, When connected to Android Auto, many SYNC features are unavailable including:
Vehicle equipped Navigation
AppLink
SYNC Voice Commands
Making calls through the SYNC menu
Climate Controls
I think it perfectly reasonable to use Android Auto and SYNC functions concurrently, and I had been doing so with no problems for 16+ months.

So ... if any of you have a newer update than 5.1.1, please see if this still behaves this way. If it does, please complain to Ford.

Thanks.

Climate controls???

Is Ford saying you can't change the cabin temperature when connected to AA? ?

Step 1 - Don't believe ANYTHING that Ford chat tells you
Step 2 - Search the forum. We (collectively) tend to know far more about the MachE than anyone at Ford.

Navigation issues are well documented here. Phone call issues are also well documented. They are bugs and I wouldn't expect them to be fixed anytime soon.

After getting 5.1.1 I noticed when I used the Sync navigation to route to one location, then used Goggle Maps on my phone to route to another location, it canceled the route in Sync. I almost never use the stock navigation system, so this might be normal (I suspect it is).

I turned off Sync voice command over a year ago, so I can't speak to that. My calls also go through Android Auto. Since the update I haven't had any issues you/Ford Chat mentioned.

Something seems fishy with this. 5.1.1 was an update for the GWM, which is entirely separate and has little to do with the sync system.

I'm guessing that this may have something to do with the phone actually. You can only have one route going out of time, so if you start navigating with the built-in nav, it will cancel navigation on connected Android auto. And vice versa, if you start navigation on your phone it will cancel the built-in nav.

So perhaps something is happening that the car thinks your phone is currently navigating somewhere. I would start with unpairing and repairing your phone
