Sync issues with phone

Hi,
1) My wife and I just got new phones. After setting up the phone I was asked to setup a back-up key. In that mode I put it in drive and error message came up saying that I need to be in run/parked (see picture below). Once this error occurred, the entire system hung. I turned the car off and on and it was still hung. I had to wake away from the car to get it to clear.
2) How do I clear the old phones from the system. I can add a phone but there appears to be no way to delete a phone.

I did figure out that in order to clear old phones you need to use the Ford APP.

I need to make a correction. When you remove the phone from the Ford Pass, it just removes the ability to use the phone as a key. In order to remove the phone from the car you need to, after you select the phone, go into setting and scroll down. it is at the bottom. When I first looked for it, I didn't
