Probably discussed in some threads, but thought I would put this out there for others looking. Just got my GTPE this month and main screen was already a mess of fingerprints ;)

Learned on my iPads over the years the best type of screen protector is tempered glass (rather than film) that also is finger print resistant. Much easier to install, and available in glossy or matte.

I found the following on Amazon, and it was an easy install today. Came with everything needed for cleaning and prep prior to install. (Follow the directions closely, and don’t be afraid to use the hard squeegee supplied that has felt on it to work out any bubbles). I selected glossy so looks just like factory, because I wanted 100% brightness and clarity. It looks awesome and is really working great to avoid a lot of fingerprints.

You're going to notice fingerprints a lot less with a matte screen protector - but you're also likely to see a lot MORE glare from the sun and other light. Matte/anti-glare glass tends to wash out the screen a little bit.

In theory, the glossy version would be about the same as the OEM screen in terms of fingerprint visibility - but it may at least be easier to clean.

I got the same on amazon when I got my car last year. I did have an air bubble in each that I can't seem to get out that triggers my ocd. but other than that, they serve the purpose of protecting the screens.

Not the same as OEM. Has this coating. Reality not Theory… It is highly resistant to fingerprints! The same is true on an iPad with and without tempered glass treated protector.
  • Plated high-end oleophobic coating, sensitive touch no delay, daily fingerprint and smudge resistance

Practically every glass surface you touch has an anti-fingerprint or ETC (easy to clean) coating. I assure you it is not unique to this or any screen protector. The coating itself may be different between the screen protector and the original screen, but the concept is the same. And while it may seem like it's performing better now, you may also find that it wears off faster than some other coating - or it may not.

Not sure what your point is about adding a screen protector. I have had my GTPE for two weeks, and there was no way it had a similar anti-fingerprint treatment. Every touch left a fingerprint on the OE screen. (And no, I was not eating French fries at the time;)

installed the new protector and probably tested with more touches than regular usage last week - no marks. Time will tell. Either way $28 is not going to break the bank.

My OCD had to replace protector because one tiny bubble and spec of dirt, which you could only see with screen off. Lol
