I guess everyone conveniently skipped over this post.
I guess no one wanted to pay $600 for CoPilot360.

It could be that people here are cheapskates. Either that or they didn't want to support a feature with a dangerously misleading name that implied it could drive for you while you did other tasks like typing out an e-mail or browsing the Web.

I mean, if you paid for your own personal co-pilot, why not?

The double standards run deep.

Not sure what the actual question is... Has anyone tried ignoring both Laws governing operating motor vehicles, AND Manufactures recommendations on safe operation of their vehicle?

If that is indeed the question, then No. We tend to leave the nonsense to idiots.

I skipped over it because it is a dumb stunt. Where does Ford show that it is safe to remove your seatbelt while driving? Does Ford post anywhere one its website that the driver is only there because of regulations?

On the other hand, if you go to the Tesla AutoPilot webpage, it has a demo of someone in a Tesla and never touching the steering wheel. The beginning text claims the driver is only there because of regulations.

One company literally promotes dangerous behavior and got called out for it. Now Tesla stans are using the excuse "What about ....?" That is a poor excuse.

Ford calls it "Co-Pilot" for a reason... a co-pilot in the cockpit of an aircraft doesn't remove the need for a pilot. A c0-pilot is there to assist the pilot. Also, Ford has never said that the only reason to have a driver in the drivers seat is because regulations haven't caught up with their technology yet.

Actually, a co-pilot is required to be a fully certified pilot, capable of flying the aircraft safely without assistance or oversight.

That's why Tesla detractors who claim "Autopilot" is a dangerously misleading name have a double standard - an autopilot merely assists the pilot and is not typically capable of operating the craft autonomously. This is true for most aviation and marine autopilots. On the other hand, a copilot is ALWAYS fully certified to fly as a pilot.

Show me a single time that a plane was flown by a co-pilot without a pilot present.

I think they were just testing how easy it would be to misuse Copilot360 accidently if the driver was under the mistaken impression it could hand over driving duties to the Copilot.

This just highlights how safety conscious Tesla is when they make it as difficult as possible to misuse the system.

Of course any system can be abused but this subject comes up because so many have insisted that Tesla doesn't care about safety and that it's easy for people to mistakenly think they can let the car drive with no one in the driver's seat. We can see that's false with the short test featured in the video. Very informative!

Yes, if "assisting the pilot" means the pilot can hand over all duties to the co-pilot while he takes a nap or types a letter. Is that how Copilot360 works?

what would you have the car do? just careen about uncontrolled? I agree that if the drivers seat somehow becomes unoccupied the car should come to a controlled stop on the shoulder of the road, but without lane changing capabilities, how does this safely happen? stopping in the middle of traffic isn't safe either.

Im not saying you're wrong, Im genuinely curious, and this is an interesting question. As for the seatbelt being involved, there is no evidence that wearing a seatbelt increases a persons ability to safely pilot a car or truck.

Exactly, any system can be abused so the focus is on the company that encourages that abuse by posting their own videos showing that abuse.

It's less common since the security precautions after 9/11 require the cockpit be secured but, before that it was not unusual to see the pilot leave the cockpit and hang out in first class or flirt with the flight attendants.

Are you born in this century by any chance?
