So here's the deal...
We are finalizing the financing for my CG FE and my dealer submitted my application to Ford for the Ford Options. They came back and alleged that my SSN belongs to some other person and even said the "records" show that this person works for Bloomberg in NY. This is the SSN I was issued and the funny thing is I was born and raised in NY, so perhaps that could explain the discrepancy? Anyways, I have a letter from the SSA confirming this my social (Needed it at the end of last year when I was in escrow on my home). The dealer sent the letter to FMCC yesterday...

Anyways, my question is: Does anyone have a contact at FMCC that may be able to help just in case there is some pushback? I remember reading on here that there is someone who is a member that works there. I've never had this issue before with any other creditor and I have several credit cards, and previously was financed with BMW Financial and VW Credit...

I just want my car!! It's been almost a year in the making!!!

Thanks in advance

I hope you are able to resolve this issue, however, when you have the chance I think you should look into one of those identity theft/credit monitoring services.

It might just be an innocent mistake, especially if you happen to have a name that is more common, but either way, if I were in your shoes I would definitely want to find out why FMCC's record search is showing what it is showing.

Yes. Just let me know if you are still having trouble after FMCC looks at the paperwork. When we get alerts from the bureau it’s usually pretty easy to resolve.

Sometimes if the dealer enters the SSN wrong the bureau matching logic can get confused and send false alerts. Like the other poster mentioned you may want to call the credit bureau to see if there is an issue.

Thanks for letting me know @timbop

Yes, it does concern me, But I have memberships with all three credit bureaus and nothing fraudulent ever came up. Everything on my reports belong to me. And when I went through underwriting with the house, I can imagine they do a much deeper search and this issue never came up. So strange!

Thanks for reaching out. I am waiting to hear back from the finance guy now. He called me when he was on the phone with the rep at FMCC and they were asking questions which I assumed were to verify things on my credit report (Like previous address, place of employment). I guess we will see what they say. Hoping it can be wrapped up before the end of the week. I will let you know either way!

Ok great. Sounds like the standard process. I’ll keep an eye this thread.

This is what jumps out at me. Is this a standard practice in CA, or with your home lender? I've purchased 3 homes in my life and never needed a letter from the SSA. It seems like there must be something going on with your SSN.

Mu understanding was it was needed because I couldn't find my SS card the lender needed a copy to close. Since it was last minute it was quicker to have the local office print the letter vs mailing me a new card. The lender didn't go into specifics about why they needed it, it's my first home purchase so I assumed it was a routine thing. But now with this coming up, it's making me wonder....

Hello there again! So my dealer says that the FMCC people keep telling him they will get back to him when he calls, so he's getting nowhere. They are ready to give up and are trying to push me to finance with a credit union... Would you mind seeing if there's anything you can do for us? I really don't want to leave the $2,500 credit on the table.

Thanks!
