My favourite solution to this is the adoption of a wireless charging standard. Theft/vandalism become much more difficult if not impossible.

Their parents would be proud. Life is a bitch. Imagine if they could have looked into the future as a child only to see themselves peddling stolen coper wires they cut from home chargers.
The apple doesn't fall far from the tree!

Wireless can't fast charge, at least not anytime soon with current technology. You need the direct connection to the battery to do fast charging. Wireless is going to be more of a Level 2 overnight charge limited to 20 kW or less.

You're suggesting we punish this crime with (potential) death. I'm hoping that this is not intentional.
This is not a new concept.

If you go to a salvage yard after dark, you may notice signs posted suggesting that a Dog is present and you could potentially be seriously injured or die if you do indeed decide to go in.

I qualify my solution to educate the public ahead of time (kind of like they do with new stop lights and keeping them off for a while until the Public gets a good idea of what is soon to happen).

Even a small child can understand a sign that shows an action with possible death if that action is carried out.

If one dies knowing full well that if they cut a wire KNOWING that they may die, then I say the death is more a suicide. I would have more sympathy for those that need to clean up the mess than those that are committing "suicide".

I did not intend this to "go dark" but I don't have much sympathy for those that choose to steal knowing the real risks of their stupidity.

WiTricity has demo’d 100kW (with a retrofitted Mach-E at that) and they’re claiming 90%+ efficiency. I’ll take that.

I'm referring to charging cables being stolen, not copper in general.
But typically that is why they are stolen, for the copper. with a few removed by the anti EV crowd just to be a holes.

It charges at 10 kW, not 100 kW.
My bad, I somehow added a decimal point the last time I read about it. And it makes sense that the tech would make use of the car's built in AC charger so that's going to be the limitation.
