I would add the horn honking when your putting air in your tires when you reach the correct tire pressure level.
I think Nissan does that.

I'd like to add that this isn't just for the features. I'd about the communication and transparency
I dunno, it seems the more communication and transparency we get the more frustration and disappointment people have when things don’t show up on whatever timeframe is expected.

If they tell us what’s “coming soon,” it’s never soon enough.

You do realize Ford already does 10 of the 26 improvements Rivian is planning to deliver, right?
It does not matter how many improvements they make if you do not get them. I have a 23 GT I bought in April. I have BC 1.2 and have not had an update since August. I have called the EV line at Ford and they say my car is up to date. I have the older 2 dot interface, but no software glitches at least.

Absolutely! Just pop in over at Rivian Forum. I love the part about not leaving it's loyal customers behind @Ford Motor Company
Rivian uses a <year>.<week number> versioning scheme, so you know when an update is expected to ship, and the have one version number for the whole vehicle's software. it's much simpler to keep track of things.

I just popped over to the Rivian forum just to see what was there.

Here were the first seven things I saw:
I decided that there was no need to go any further. It looks very similar to the complaints and issues that Ford and probably every other EV manufacturer has. The grass is seldom greener on the other side of the fence.

Pick literally any subject you want and do the same test. Enthusiast go to forums….and no one hates/complains about the product more than enthusiasts.

It’s hard to get an accurate gauge of things because such a small number of people very very vocally tear it all apart.

Was the second Disney Star Wars movie the worst move ever made like Reddit claims?, next one also made over a billion. But obviously no one would go see that after the utter disappointment of the previous one that made over a billion!

Who knows, seems like the internet is for venting way more than praising.

This is the first thing that crossed my mind when I saw the OP. I used to frequent Teslarati.com multiple times daily years ago when I wanted to get a Tesla. I would say the comments there were 50/50 praise/gripe.

Edit: The first bullet is hilarious haha. Sounds like something that would be highlited on a morning shock jock radio show.:crackup:

Rivian certainly has their issues, like every other manufacturer. That said, from the outside looking in, it seems as though they are really on top of their game as far as software features and updates are concerned. They also do some really neat stuff with themed display overlays and lighting. I get the sense that they are genuinely passionate about making consistent and engaging updates and improvements to their platforms.

I've had my eye on Rivian for a while now and would happily own an R1T if it were in my budget. I'll be keeping close tabs on the development of their R2 and R3 models in the coming years. Depending on how things go with my MME in the next few years and what the next gen Mach-E ends up being, my next vehicle may likely be a new or pre-owned Rivian.

As an owner of both a 2023 Rivian R1T 2023 and 2022 Mach-e GT, I can confirm that Rivian is heads and shoulders above Ford on overall communication and demonstrable improvements to the vehicle over time, from monthly newsletters to monthly software updates that provide significant enhancements from new driving modes to adjustments to the suspension to improvements to the driving gauge (i.e. adding turn signal video) to security (live feeds from the cars cameras on the app) to new infotainment such as Google Casting which launches next week. You get the point. It's a lot and they include clear notes in their software updates. Ford's updates have been sparse, and with the exception of Bluecruise 1.3, typically opaque on what we're getting.

People smarter than me can explain the difference in how Rivian can move rapidly where Ford can't (owning every inch of te software to vehicle interface, etc), but communication is communication, and for some reason the legacy car companies stink at it. It is true Rivian needs every customer to make it as a brand new car company, and that may the simplest explanation.

BTW - I love both vehicles. They are changing the game.

That's disappointing to read. On the flip side, however, it says a lot that Rivian is tops in customer satisfaction even with low reliability scores.
Tesla has been playing that game for years (worst reliability with high owner satisfaction).

Either the cars are just that great despite breaking all the time, or the fan base is delusional.

You decide. ?‍♂

You lost me at CR

I've had the pleasure of owning and driving 2 F150 Powerboost, over the last ~years. CR lists it as THE MOST UNRELIABLE pickup truck in America.

And if you spend any time on the Gen14 F150 forum, I'm far from the only owner that has had such good luck with an amazing vehicle.

Of course when you read the details of the issues that CR used to score it so poorly, the vast majority of those issues are not Powerboost exclusive, but rather F150 regardless of drivetrain.

Anyways, I'm not a big Rivian fan nor a Rivian naysayer. But whatever opinion I might develop about Rivian in the future, it will be un-influenced by CR.
