It means your battery prefers to work at 75 degree weather and not the cold.
^^

Also keep in mind that “This trip,” just like most battery measuring things in this car, is just another estimate.

It’ll give you a general idea of what is using up your battery life, but definitely is not an exact science.

Like when you brake coach tells you “100% energy returned” from regenerative braking, you know that number is physically impossible.

But more than the cold weather, it seems the OPs car thinks he’s blasting The Who too loud! ?

Cool, I'll switch to Jimmy Buffett.

Doesn’t the brake coach just mean you returned 100% of what was possible. Like if you used all regen braking you got 100% score but if you slammed on the brake and used the real break your score is less.

Maybe? But it’s a very loose definition of the phrase “100%.”

It’s also 100% not accurate.

I can put the car in neutral, brake, and it’ll say “100% energy returned”
When in reality in neutral you get ZERO regeneration.

Which goes to my point, of it means what percent of the possible energy did it return, it returned 100% of nothing. Haha

Ok. In Miami it's 73 degrees today, but my drive from swim practice used 9% for the exterior.
So was the car trying to keep the battery warmer than 73?

Keep in mind some factors:

If you car was sitting in the sun all day before you got in it, the battery may be warmer than ambient temperature. The same can be true if your car was stored in a cold garage, but go outside into warmer ambient conditions. Also keep in mind that as your battery is being used, it is creating heat. You may actually be spending power to cool the battery on a 73 degree day, or warm it.

Just interpret the the "exterior temperature" piece as the energy needed to keep your battery at its optimal temperature, whether that is heating or cooling. Also if your drive is short, don't take too much insight from any of the numbers.

And that makes perfect sense.

Don’t think of it like your battery “lost” 9% to the exterior temperature… think of it like the battery has 91% of its capacity at its current temperature.

That’s why you might see that your Mach-E has 200 miles of range, but after the battery pre-conditions to meet your departure time, that estimate might be 212 miles.

I think of it like “none of the numbers are actual measurements, they’re just generic estimates.”

Has anyone had the exterior temp equal 0%?
