Can anyone confirm if the Thule Pulse Alpine cargo box fits the 2024 Mach E without interfering with the hatchback? Looking for a low profile roof cargo box to carry skis and boards, and this seems to fit the bill, but appears to be longer than other, bulkier boxes. TIA

Thule says you'll be able to use your lift gate but I can say you'll have to move the box quite a bit forward on the crossbars so you will see it up there via front windshield. Don't know what the car's cameras will think about it. (the more the box sticks out in front of the front load bar, the more wind noise and buffering you'll feel) And your antenna will likely be covered if you move the box back as far as possible. You need the full 88 inches of the Pulse Alpine? Can't go with a wider, shorter box?

Curious too as to what brand of roof rack you would be mounting the box on. I've used Thule racks for over 30 years and have had great experience on a wide variety of vehicles. I have the Wing Bar Evo on the MME. It is rated to carry 110 lbs but keep in mind that is your box rate and cargo combined. Thule is conservative about their ratings but I stick really close to them since we're not able to use fixed mounted rails or ports on our MME's. And I am assuming you do not have a glass roof? No matter what anyone says I would not mount a rack on one.

Sorry to beat this thread to death but need to clarify my earlier post. Thule and others will rate their CROSSBARS up to 200+ pounds. That means the bars can carry that weight. But the connection (fit kit) to your car itself is usually rated somewhere between 100-165 pounds. As the Mach E has a sleek roof line and doorjambs, they say their fit kit for the MME has been tested to work at 110 lbs total weight at highway speeds and stops. Most people don't factor in the weight of the feet, crossbars and whatever carrier they are using for gear or toys. Ya need to add all the components to be on the safe side. Or....be one of those poor blighters on the side of the road with cars whizzing by whilst you try to corral your lost cargo. I've hauled bikes, cargo boxes, kayaks and canoes thousands of miles and only once paid the price when I didn't use a bow strap on a heavy standup board. Was only going a few miles from home and in a yank. Had to stop hard and the board came off the front into the intersection. One of the "trusty" cam straps had busted and I was able to salvage the board but embarrassed as hell. Dinged the van hood. If it had been the MME I would still be crying...

Thanks for the thorough reply! To answer the questions:
1) Getting the Thule Wingbar EVO
2) Do have a glass roof but have seen multiple threads asserting that it the system works fine with it.
3) Weight limit should not be a problem
4) Was liking the low profile of the Pulse Alpine, but given that it will overhang, will probably opt for a shorter, bulkier box, like the FORCE

It won’t fit everyone’s needs, but whenever possible, I would recommend a hitch-mounted rack. You won’t add any noticeable wind noise and won’t have much impact on economy. You also aren’t adding any height, so you do t have to worry about ripping off your gear when you enter a garage or a drive-thru.

I have a 60”x20” rack that I use with the MME as well as my wife’s minivan. It can carry up to 500 pounds, but the real limiting factor is the hitch and the car itself. At 270 pounds, I can stand on the rack when it is on the MME. I never put that much weight on it, though. My rack came with a waterproof bag that is 60”x20” and about 28” tall. That puts it right around 20 cubic feet. I don’t have a pic of it on the MME yet, but here’s a pic of a slightly smaller rack/bag on my Bolt:

Hi All, just got myself the Thule kit for my Premium with glass roof. First thing I noticed when opened the box was a paper sheet saying no more 50kg/110lb load if its glass roof. Hmm, I have always loaded more than that with all my previous cars with pano roof. The ones who have the pano roof and Thule roof rack do you guys load more than 110lbs?

Any chance you could share a photo of it mounted out of curiosity. Thanks
