I have a 2025 Premium and was exploring under the cargo mat yesterday. I was pleasantly surprised to find a tow hook. I didn’t know that the US models came with a tow hook. Went on my computer and opened the manual - and lo and behold, the tow hook is mentioned. It screws into a hole behind the jumper leads in the front bumper.

They finally started including the hook with 2025s. In 2024 they included the threaded receiver in the front bumper but no hook. 😁🐩

EDIT: I forgot to mention that the hook was included in 2024 Rally models in North America. The whole North American MME line got the threaded receiver in 2024. 🤦‍♂️🐩

Does this mean that I can buy the hook off of Ford parts and use it if I need my vehicle towed?

In other words, anyone know if the socket on a 2024 will support the tension of pulling the vehicle?

The tow hook is misnamed. It's really more of a recovery hook, to be used if the vehicle is stuck or to pull it up onto the bed of a flatbed tow vehicle. It was designed by Ford to be used for just such an incident, so it *should* work (I have not had the opportunity to try it out). I bought my tow hook off of eBay back when I thought I could put a receiver for it in my 2021. It fits my 2024 just fine. Note that the hook has a left-handed thread in a non-standard pitch (which is why I scotched the idea of making a backing plate with the left-hand thread in it for the hook). 😁🐩

Yes it’s for pulling on a flat bed or mildly stuck situations only. The pull must also be straight and not off to the side by more than about 10° or it can bend.

Thus, might it be true, that on the 2025 model year MME, it appears there are no longer tow hook locations underneath the front end (as previously) by which one could flat tow the vehicle (below 35mph etc)? I did not find them yesterday.

Interesting, so these holes are no longer there?

I don’t understand why European Mach-E also has a threaded receiver in the rear but they omitted that from the US market. Especially since there’s zero rear recovery points on the US Mach-E.

In my evaluation, unlike in my 2021 model, while there was a "hole" there in the 2025, maybe a bit wider, and it is sturdy, it does not have a hole at the top into which the tow hook would go and hook. If you stick your hand into it, it has a ceiling with a bolt/fastner, rather than a hole. There also was another, smaller, more square-shaped hole perhaps a few inches closer to the front of the vehicle, but it was not sturdy, just felt like the tow truck would be pulling on plastic pieces.

I went and took photos. In the photo attached the potential tow hook holes I was discussing are those further back, closer to the wheel.

Thanks! I almost needed it winched onto a tow flatbed, and was nervous about the tow points. The tow truck guys just assumed that the eyelet was the thing they needed.

The eyelet seems like a sound investment.

You can get the part number off of the box in my photos. I got a pretty good deal on it off of eBay, but I hear it isn’t all that expensive from Ford. 😁🐩

@HuntingPudel does your underside look like this with no winch holes forward of the wheels? If so, I think 2024 owners will want to know their cars are unwinchable without that extra tow hook.

No, Lee. The 2024s have the tow holes. I even put the same lime green arrows with the word "TOW" printed on them on the underside of the car to point them out in case of id10t tow personnel. 😁🐩

You are correct - I just looked underneath my 2025 Premium and it seems that the "holes" are for bolts retaining the under body plastic shield. However; page 298 of the manual states:

"EMERGENCY TOWING
If your vehicle becomes inoperable without access to wheel dollies or a vehicle transport trailer, it can be flat-towed with all wheels on the ground, regardless of the drivetrain, under the following conditions:
• Your vehicle is facing forward for towing in a forward direction.
• You switch Emergency Tow on.
• Maximum speed is 55 km/h (35 mph).
• Maximum distance is 80 km (50 mi)."

Not sure how the vehicle should be towed only by the tow hook located on the front right side of the bumper though (only one offset tow point).

Calling it a "tow point" is incorrect. It's really a recovery/winch point. It's meant to be used to winch a car onto a flatbed tow rig. 🤔🐩
